CHILD SURVIVES BEING HIT BY TRAIN

It makes you wonder how a guardian could be so careless to let things like this happen. I guess it's a sign of an ever-changing 21st Century.

Well, if it's anything like the U.S. there will be calls for more regulation of strollers/prams.

What's really needed is for people to wake the (blank) up. Is it too much common sense to, say, turn the stroller parallel to the tracks so it won't roll right into them?

The thing that bugs me the most is that no-one says anything about the driver of the train... poor bloke...
It doesn't matter how the driver feels after he thinks he has killed a 15-month old child...:(

In my personal opinion, I think the guardian should take the blame since it's his/her responsibility to look after his/her own child, not all surfaces are completely flat (it's quite the opposite if you pay enough attention to detail).

I think that the steps the company are taking to improve the platform surfaces are in improvement though.

The number rule for that video is to never let it happen in the first place.

I'll agree with that. But hey, it's the 21st century. No-one ever thinks about safety these days, unless it's too late. Terrible. I'm even surprised the kid got out of there alive! It's like the pram was made of titanium! Luck shines on the youth all the time.

You could say it's beginners luck.

Besides, it was just a train stopping at the platform, if it was an express train, he would have no chance.

Like I said before, it's the 21st century. I've seen less care being taken around my town's roads! Whenever someone's waiting to cross, no-one bothers stopping to let them cross- they just keep going! And when someone's half-way across the street, most drivers can come out of nowhere and don't bother to slow down! They expect you to simply move quicker! There is also the problem with people that cross the road- they don't bother looking either way before they cross the road! When they see traffic at a stand still, they just assume it's safe! The young and the old do it around here!:n::n::n: It's just stupid.

Uh, in this particular case it was a grandparent, someone that grew up in (at the latest) the 1970s and 1980s.

This isn't 'a symptom of the 21st century' at all, not in this case.

To be honest, I would argue that the platform shouldn't slope towards the track, that's negligent building design/construction. Especially given how fast the pram starts to roll, and how much speed it builds up. It's not just about prams either, but sloping the platform towards the tracks causes potential situations for young children, old people, and disabled people.

Quite obviously the grandmother didn't notice the slope, but I certainly wouldn't expect it to be that strong either, I'd like to think that I'd notice, but I'd bet I wouldn't.

Actually, if you neglected to read, the slope was made because then the water would run down to the tracks and not collect in puddles along the platforms, making the surfaces wet and slippery... So that you know.
