Changing tracks!

Hi all, is it possible to change the tracks in a layout by changing the kuid no. in the config txt file. For example if the current track is 1 track dusty and I want to replace it with 1 track wood, if you get my drift. Can it be done or will it be a disaster?
Thanks
Jazza:)

In the config file? No, because one of the route files stores the information too. Chaging track depends on which Trainz version you have.

Hi Jazza

If you mean can you replace the kuid no in the config file of the new track with that of the old track (and then delete or change the old track to avoid duplicate kuids) the answer is yes - but this is of academic interest only as I'm sure the creators of both assets would have something to say if they got wind of it!!
As you are using 2004 you can replace track easily with TrainzObjectz or TrainzMap.

About changing a map, you can do what you like with it on your computer but you cannot re-export it under your KUID.

If you have TRS2004 then you can use TrainzObjectz to do the replacement. The new TS2009 will allow you to change tracks and in either case the change should not cause a problem, the new track will still link to the original vertices.

In TRS2006 changing in the config.txt does not work, when you commit the file the number will be changed back to the original. I think there is a version of Trainzmap that works in TRS2006, that should allow you to make the change.
