Changing Track

I am sure this has been asked before but for the life of me I ca'nt remember were/when or what the answer was !!!

In 2006 without the service pack

is there a way to change the type of track used in a route for another type of track

The route I am building used the Norfolk track

I have permission to incorporate a section of route built by someone else but he used a different type of track, the route is quite long with some stations and industrys along it, to use this I need to change the track to match mine.

I thought I could go into the config and change the track Kuids over to do this but it dont work like that, the config shows the track as the Kuid I use but when I load the route up the tracks still the same as before

If memory seves me here you need to have either the latest version of TrainzMap installed which requires the service pack for TRS2006, or you need to have TRS2004 installed as well and the old version of TrainzMap. You can change the track very easily using TrainzMap.

George's memory is pretty good.

Kuids have to be changed in the map's .trk file. The options are few. A hex editor, some knowledge of the file format and a bit of luck; TrainzMap (for TRS2004 or 2006 w/SP1); Trainzobjects (for TRS2004 only).

The easiest is TrainzMap with SP1 - works directly - you don't have to move any map files in or out. One drawback is it doesn't handle bridge type track (bridges, tunnels or double track).

If you don't have SP1 for TRS2006 then you have to have both TRS2004 and TRS2006 installed, if you don't have that then you're about out of options.

TrainzMap 3.4 works with TRS2004 but doesn't handle kuid2 formats also both the new track you want to use and all the existing track in the map have to be installed in TRS2004. It's easier if the map is installed in TRS2004 too but TM can browse to another directory to find the map if necessary. I think for TO to work the map has to be installed in TRS2004. It can also handle bridge type track if that's a problem.

I have my own scripts I use. The utility I work on from time to time writes out new trk files or merges new ones into existing trk files and while it will create new track with kuids you specify it won't replace ones in an existing trk file as a matter of design. I usually just modify one of the script I have sitting around to do a particular job like swapping kuids and use it. If you exhaust all other options send me an email

The problem here is SP-1
I have seen this TrainzMap mentioned before

I have the French version 2006 and after several times asking the helpdesk about the SP-1 for this version they have now told me there will not be one, they have issued a new program for France 2007 and this upgrades to 2.6 same as if you had installed a service pack, this is well and good but means use that those that bought the original 2006 can never upgrade, but have to fork out another 70€ again, as you can invisage there is quite a lot of upset people on the French web site,

as for 2004 ( if its still obtainable in France) it still means forking out cash!!
