Changing steam engine sounds.

This isn't as easy as just changing the engine sound kuid. On some locos its a simple kuid with the ramped .wav files however on some like the N&W J 600 <kuid2:96914:6050:2> the engine sound is constructed of sound files within the kuid itself. 4 piston stroke sounds that make up the main sound of the engine chugs until about 25mph when it mutes out and then the ramped .wav files from the steam engine kuid take over.

Problem is the computer cannot sync and adjust the speed of these piston stroke sounds consistently so its an absolute mess.

So I need to know what needs to be changed in the locomotive config file so I can use a better steam engine sound system like in the SP GS-4 <kuid2:103021:100086:2> or the best which is the USRA 0-8-0 NYC which uses the 2 cylinder steam engine sound <kuid2:126323:53050:1>.

At this point I've resorted to adjusting the piston stroke sound files in a sound file editor so they are muted and make no sound.

I've searched the forums here and have not found the solution so any help is appreciated.

Hi gd51500,

First you need a sound made for TS2009 or above, earlier sounds don't work right in anything above TS2009. The other thing is, some older locos have their sound controlled by the regulator instead of the drive wheels, for that you need to change the locomotive.gs file. I have a version of N&W J600 on the DLS I suggest you download it kuid2:243294:1305:3
It is set to TS2009 build but will work in TS12 I don't know about a Mac but it should work ok.

Your solution was clearly too simple haha. Downloaded your N&W J600 kuid2:243294:1305:3 and it works great. Thanks!

That is the first time I know of it being used on a Mac Good to know it works. Thanks.
