changing computers

I am trying to re-install TR2010 on a new computer and then to export a cpd file from the old one and import it to the new one to transfer my own route and session. After that appeared to lose a lot of assets I copied over the ".ja" and HASH.* files from my cold computer. Although it has some missing dependencies it seems more or less ok in the CM database. However, my route and session do not appear in the routes on launching Trainz.

What is the proper way to transfer routes to a new computer?
Thanks for any help...

"hammo" great nick!
Are you sure you just haven't forgotten to toggle the "Favorites" star?

Just copy your entire Auran (or whatever) directory to an external hard drive and then copy the lot to your new PC. Everything will be as before then.

Not always.

Trainz has some crucial registry entries that also need to be copied over, hence why it is always better to freshly install it on the new system, repatch it, then copy over the content.

Take it from me - I've seen users do it and failing.

If he copies it over and installs a fresh version he can then copy over his local directory etc and make sure all of his settings were as before.
I didn't think Trainz needed registry entries.

You are spot on! I had not appreciated the favourites system. I toggled the favourites and all my routes appeared - so thanks a lot.

That was my next step. However, I have toggled the favourites and my lost routes have appeared. Some assets seem to have disappeared so I might still try to copy the whole lot.
Thanks
