Change Profile Name

At Planet Auran, I think you are allowed only 1 Profile name change, only once.

With any UN & PW, on your PC, one should think long and hard, before changing, or making up a UN & PW, because you will have to live with it, just about forever. And no one wants to be stuck with some UN & PW that they can't recall at a later date, or one that is silly, not well thought out.

Hey! I think that's a good idea! Let's have a contest for who got the most regrettable name in Trainz!

This site inspired my profile name: http://vulcan.wr.usgs.gov/Volcanoes/Cascades/Images/framework.html

As we are sitting on just a thin 5 mile crust of the Earth, that has a nookclear fusion furnace on its interior.

The Cascade Range is pretty naughty, and has a very rugged RR mainline running through it !

My other interest was the Wopsy RR: http://wopsylady.webs.com/apps/photos/

Feel free to take up that way cool username !

If I were to take on a new username I would pick somthing from the Mt Washington COG Rwy, like the Devils Shingle: http://www.cog-railway.com/03devils.htm

Or the Mt Tamalapias Gravity RR (there is a book: The Crookedest RR in the West): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpI7ZBuB9GA, the Reading Gravity Railroad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=DkLYFwYb0H8&feature=endscreen, or the Shohola Glen, Mauch Chunk, Mahanoy Incline Plane switchback railroad(s): http://www.switchbackgravityrr.org/

Hi All
At this time, we are not able to provide username changes. We may be able to do so again in future, however we do not have any immediate plans for this.

If we do provide username changes again in future, then we will be retaining the policy that you can only change your username once.

Regards

Unfortunately, when you register with the site it doesn't say 'Hey! The user name you pick here is the one you will be using for ever and ever so pick it carefully!'. Lots of sites have you register with a name and then allow you to pick a profile name so you can sit back and think about it.

Seriously? Comon...just put together a script to run down your database tables and make the change! Pretty pleeze???

Good Afternoon Jeffsmiller
We did offer to change usernames (once) on request until recently. However, we have had to remove the functionality for the time being, due to issues that were being caused by changing usernames. Our website uses multiple databases (e.g. Planet Auran, the forums, etc), and issues have been found with having all of the databases update. We will look into this in future, however it is not a high priority, in part due to the time required to fix the issues . At the current time, we have other things that have a much higher priority than changing usernames.

Please note, the functionality was not publicly accessible. Any username changes were handled by the helpdesk.

We do, however, expect people to register a username that they want their account to have at the time, not to register their account then change it a few days later. We do not intend to allow anyone to constantly change their username, as we simply cannot handle this.

Again, we may offer to change usernames again in future, however there is no ETA on when this will happen. It definitely would not happen today, as it is a public holiday (Good Friday)...

Regards

In the early days, before N3V took over, you were assigned a username based on your email address. As such, I have two usernames and I'm not allowed to change the email address of the one that has all the new stuff on it. (Thanks, Auran/N3V.)

#646289 = #56512

Most people use their internet proveder as their EMail address ... this is a bad idea, as if you move, or change your internet provider, you lose that EMail address.

Yahoo Mail is probably one of the best choices.

When making an EMail address name, and a Username & Password, it is best to think long and hard about the choice of a name, overnight ... As no one wants to be known as QWERTYUIOP, with a password of 012345678910.

Write down your EMail address, and UN & PW, Trainz disc registration key code on each Trainz disc box, on a piece of masking tape ... then you will never lose the information.

Always use the same UN & Password, as well as the same EMail address on all your different versions of Trainz.

Keep a hand written log book of all your important Trainz, and PC information ... Did you ever lose a cell phone, and lost all your contacts phone numbers. Have you ever had a PC HD fail, and all your stuff is not backed up on another PC, Disc, Flash Drive, External HD ? Fail to plan ... plan to fail !
