Carz stop on crossings

Approach_Medium

Trainz Addict
I'm wondering if there is a way to prevent carz from stopping on the tracks when they are backed up.

On a route with two sets of tracks, 50 yards or so apart, the carz that back up at one crossing, stop on the tracks of the other.
Not a good situation, is it; but very prototypical for how people drive in the US.

I suppose that I could place an invisible traffic light at each crossing, triggered by the other, so that when the far crossing is closed, the traffic signal at the near one turns red, and carz stop for the light.

Or, maybe using the ATLS crossing system, just have both sets of gates close when a train approaches on either track.

Well then if it is prototypical what you complaining about? Auran did something right, just didn't concern the main focus of the game (trains). Management should switch plans. The next version of Trainz shouldn't be trains or treez but instead carz. :p

Basically all I gotta say in this thread. I have no idea how to fix your problem, sorry, wish I could have a fix for you and everyone else. I live with the problem, but now I have another reason, thanks. :hehe:

Road Spline Points

Put some road spline points inside the tracks between the crossings. Cars dont stop at a crossing if thier are spline points close to the crossing. The only problem ull have is carz trying to outrun the train.
hth,

OK. I'll try that.

I really wouldn't care about the carz, but since they are included in the game, I like them to behave as they should.
Then, if they don't stop at the crossings, there should be a cop waiting to chase them down, and if they are unlucky enough to cross in front of (or through) a train, they should not come out the other side - instead, they be gone!

Nice thought.. unfortunately carz are hard coded in the game and and have no script functions to do what you suggest, so we can't make it happen.

I think you can script carz, but you have to lay down invisible track on the roads, and then use carz that are created as trainz. I have seen some like that. In that case, you can do anything with carz that you can do with trainz.

If you purchased TS2010, take a look at the Avery Drexel route. It has lots of those invisible tracks on the roads.
