Cars in Trainz

Can anybody please help an 81 year old trying to get to grips with modern technology? Please tell me how to get Trainz cars running AROUND road traffic circles instead of always just running straight across them. I know this is probably a stupid question but I'm afraid I come from another generation. Any assistance would be most highly appreciated. Regards to all, Grandpa Mike.

If you are using the standard road splines that come with Trainz then the answer is NO you cannot get them to go around road circles (I presume you are referring to "roundabouts"?).

There are alternative road systems that have been built for Trainz, ATLS is one such system, that may be able to do this - I don't use these systems so I cannot tell you for sure. The ATLS assets were created by a user named boat so if you do a forum search using topic ATLS and author boat then you will find some information.

Use an invisible road. Create a spline point in the road before the roundabout, and lay the invisible road from that new point up to the roundabout, around it, and connect to another new spline point on the other side. Carz will always take the left branch of a junction, so make sure that when the invisible road leaves the visible road it diverges to the left of centre. The divergence can be as small as you can make it. You will need several spline points in the invisible road (in addition to the deviation around the roundabout) to avoid distorting the alignment of the visible road, and to ensure the divergence stays to the left. A second pair of additional spline points, together with their connecting invisible road, will be required for traffic in the other direction. Note that the visible road should stay connected across the roundabout, but hidden under it: you don't want to leave an open end because that will spawn new carz.

I actually have gotten them to run around in circles by using a one-way road.

When playing the road down in Surveyor, you need to drag the spline in the opposite direction you want the traffic to travel in.

Nearly any road can be turned into a one-way road, by placing the following line in the config.txt file:
