Can't move a placed consist

I've updated to the latest Trainz Plus. I wanted to place some 1 mile consists end to end to do some measurements. Placed the first one, but when I tried to move it to the correct starting point, it wouldn't stay at the new location. It always snaps back to the original placement point. Also when I move the consist, it doesn't follow the tracks when moving. Anyone else seeing this?

This is the ‘Track Object’ placement issue as a result of SP5. Search the forums for the official SP5 announcement. There are a number of suggested fixes pending a hotfix.

It doesn't sound like the track object placement bug because (1) rolling stock objects are not track objects (like signals, speed signs, etc) and (2) the consist had already been placed onto track but refused to be moved to a new location ("It always snaps back to the original placement point").

A possibility - check the track where you are trying to move the consist to - is it made of correctly joined segments and is it long enough to take the mile long consist with room to spare at each end?

I had the same issue when trying to move consists. Once I re-committed the track (one of the solutions to the 'track object' issue), the issue went away.

So a couple of pictures to illustrate what it is/isn't doing.

First picture - placing a consist. This works fine. Now to try to move the consist to a new location along the track. In pre-SP5, the consist would follow the track, changing shape to follow the curves of the track.

Second picture - the consist doesn't even try to follow the track. It also seems anchored to the insertion point as that yellow line seems to show. When I let go of the mouse button the consist snaps back to that location.

My attempt using Trainz Plus SP5 (but without the fancy grass)

1. Original setup - entire consist selected

2. Consist dragged away from original track. Yellow anchor line connects it to the nearest track which in this case is the original position

3. Consist dragged closer to the new track. Yellow anchor line switches to the new track

4. Consist released with anchor line attached to the new track

Sorry, I misread. You wanted to move it along the same track not to a new track

I just tried that in SP5 and it worked perfectly, just as it did in SP4 and earlier. I just dragged it along the same track and dropped it at its new position with no complaints.

You don't need to use the Fine Adjustment Tool to move it. Just use the Free Move Tool I find it less troublesome for these types of moves.

It seems to be related to the other issues people are having with track associated items. I deleted the track I use, then re-installed and moving consists works fine now. I hope this doesn't mean that every type of track in the database has to have this done if I ever want to use it in the future...

Rolling stock is absolutely a track object (Class Trackside) just like the others you listed. It is certainly effected by the bug.

I also have this problem and removing and reinstalling 680 track assets and then trying to see if they work is not really an option for me. i tried open for edit and recommit twice but there was no effect.

Some people are having an issue with open for editing and recommitting tracks. Try removing the track in Content Manager and reinstalling again.
