Hi I am new to 2010 so please bear with me.
Could someone please help me with this problem, I put a train and consist on a track.
then I give the driver some orders, but after I shut down and reboot into the game,
all the drivers orders have disappeared, even if I change the name of the driver it reverts back to the default name, what have I done wrong or not done please.

Hi Len,
It's usually a good idea if there is a layout you like and you edit it, place some trains on it, go into 'Edit Sessions', give some orders, test it out and if you're happy with it,... SAVE it with a NEW file address or name. Remember that once you close it down and come back later you first click on 'Routes', highlight the file and instead of hitting 'Edit' go to 'Session' bottom right instead. Once that opens then you can 'edit' the session you 'saved' previously. If you don't follow that procedure you will lose all the work you've put into it. Cheers.

Len - It sounds as though the session is not saving properly if at all when you come out of the game. This is usually caused by not running all the .exe files in the Trainz directory "as administrator". Note this is not the same as running the program from an administrator account. You need to go to the Trainz directory and right click on each exe file there and in the Bin directory, chose properties, and under one of the tabs is an option to "Run as administrator". Make sure this is ticked.

Wow Roy,,,this is where the trouble is, it get some getting use to and I don't know where I am at times,
I can tell you , as you probabaly know I am in and out of routes and sessions, I just wish they had left
it as it was in 2006, because not only that when I looked there was a lot of session files and in cmp as well to get rid of,
Is there a way of stopping the amount of files even if I tick over write or new file name.
Well I guess I will just have to carry on.
Thanks for your help
All the best

Overwrite will not create a new file, it just overwrites the existing files, but make sure that both the route and session are doing it. A new route name creates two new files and the old session no longer is linked, change the map kuid in the old session will relink the session to the map. Only one session can be kept with a route in surveyor unless you don't do any changes to the routes track related assets or named objects. Overwrite route but create new session will create a new session file, both the new and old session are available but the old one may not work if track assets have been moved. Edit from session makes sure you keep only the one session active and will keep it linked to the route.

Thanks Keith,,, I think I have it now, if I want to change the route ( add assets etc) well then I use route edit,
if I want to add drivers or commands then I use edit session,
The thing is,, whenever I use edit session, on the screen where it shows sessions, it keeps adding sessions and so
therefore I am always deleting the last few or I would end up with hundreds,, or is there a way of stopping this?.
I have stopped autosave and I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad one.
Thanks again.

The saved sessions on first screen is the saved driver sessions when you leave a driver after running a train and then save. The edit session is selected by selecting route and then click the arrow on the right of the route you want. This opens up the session and route for edit. Do all your edit work from this option and then save. If you select only edit route a new session will be created, hence all your extra sessions. Check when you save that it says overwrite route and session and not overwrite route and create new session. Never used auto save.
