Cannot reach set speed

I have three locos lashed together pulling 18 empty wellcars. A C40-8, Dash 8 and a Dash 9 44cw. Plenty of power or so I thought. The speed limit is set at 70mph but they can only reach 55 mph. Yes, it's level for the most part. There are 3 different engine specs involved. Could this be the problem? No problems with signals or switches. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

The engine specs are likely the problem, as Trainz will use the average of the speeds that the locos will do if there's more than 1 in the consist.

If it were me, I would first look at the route for speed limit sign that I might have missed.
As for those engines, not one of them is limited to 55mph.

Use the display custom hud v2, that will show the speed limit.

@ DaveL - one of the first things I checked were the speed signs, everythings OK there

@fran1 - I think I have that downloaded but how/where do I enable it?

@ Shane - all three locos have a maximum speed of 65mph, shouldn't that be the rate at which they should be traveling?

It should be, unless there's an issue with the engine spec which is causing it to run at a lower speed. Also check if any of the rolling stock has engine specs, as some of them use 'default wagon' which has a max speed of 40mph.

The default wagon has a max speed of 0 , can't be that causing the problem as my lot run at line speed or close with trailing loads between 6000 and 11000 tons. It has to be the leading loco/locos max speed value, or the max accel being so low it can't get to line speed.
Stouthm,
add it using the edit session option, lob it in where the rules are.

Sometimes its the consist that will not work together..Try each individual Locomotive for the corrct speed and then change the Engine spec accordingly..Suggestion..

Thanks everyone for replying. It was the mismash of locos. I ran three of the same type and reached the set speeds with no problems. Now I can add a lot more cars to my consist. Always learning something new with this game.
