Beside an avalanche probably not, the plow takes it away apart for a few inches which the wheels can handle. Dry snow is not particulary slippery. Constant snowing on the other hand, can lead to ice build-up in junctions and could in turn result in de-railment.
We drove once through 1/2 meter of snow on the tracks, (nearly 2 ft) almost to the top of the plow, the damping effect was fantastic, hardly any sound from the wheels. The resistance of the snow could be felt, a couple of notches more on the throttle was needed to keep the speed up, and going down to 0 throttle, the whole train was slowing down fast and would have come to a full stop just because of the snow and a zero gradient.
