NowI'm in the right section.:)

I was wondering if this setup could run TS12?

AMD Athlon II x3 445 OEM
8GB RAM
500GB HDD
400W PSU
Nvidia GeForce 7250
6 Channel Audio

I'm working on building a PC, and I'm on a very tight budget. Let me know if there might be something a bit better, but not more costly.

Thank you.

The PSU will limit upgrade potential.

It's worth checking if the processor you've got is single core, dual core, triple core, or quad core.

Wow, that is a tight budget! Why don't you post your total cost limit here, and we'll try to make suggestions? There's plenty of builders here that understand your dilemma.:)

Athlon II x3 445 is a triple core Shane, which means it has an AM3 Motherboard so its pretty much up to date apart from the graphics card and Power supply.

I have the same processor here on one of my PC's with 4GB ram and a GTS450, runs TS12 reasonably well.

Yeah, I know I would have to upgrade the graphics card and PSU, but it would have to wait a long while until I get enough for decent upgrades.

The setup I'm looking at costs $299.99 after tax. Which isn't bad considering it's an Athlon II processor w/ 8GB Ram.

The question is, is it worth buying that rig which will struggle, or wait a bit longer until you've more money available.
How does 12 run on your present comp.

Indeed.
Try a video card. In theory a GTX550 Ti requires at least a 400 watt supply. When you get a proper new PC, perhaps you could use it there also.

Sadly the laptop I was using TS2009 and TS12(Only for doing reskins) clunkered out after a few years of use. So the way I'm on forums and internet is with my netbook.

I'm pretty desperate for a PC. A friends PC has an Athlon II x2 3.4GHz and it runs TS12 real well, so I figure this one shouldn't have much trouble either.

My friend's PC is an HP Pavillion with AMD Athlon II x2 3.4GHz with 4GB Ram and a 350GB HDD.

I advise DO NOT buy a PC, especially a low-end cheapie PC. Upgrading it to barely work will cost far more than the purchase itself. I'm about to go to sleep now but I or any number of people here can walk you through a better purchase. Even a cutting-corner rig like THIS would be better than most any prebuilt twice it's price, especially if you add in a $50 video card and a $40 hard drive.

I looked at that kit, but I'm not really interested in SSD drives....yet. I'm not very knowledgable with them, but soon I might try one out.

The PC I'm talking about is one of the kits from TigerDirect.

Too bad you can't find an equivalent Intel based system, but they are usually a wee bit more expensive.

Keep in mind that barebones kits aren't always great deals; some only save about $10 or $20 over buying parts individually, so you *may* be able to swap out, say, that SSD you don't want for a decent hard drive or video card.

Here's an even better one, same price as the Athlon you mentioned in a prior post, no SSD:

I still think I'd take the faster Athlon in the kit I mentioned above over the slower-but-better Phenom as far as Trainz is concerned, since Trainz is still very CPU-oriented.
