Can Someone Recommend a Good 4-Track?

I asked about this once before and now can't seem to find the thread...so forgive me for repeating myself!:o

I'm looking for a good four-track track spline. I have the quad track with wood ties, but I was hoping to find something with more modern concrete sleepers. I intend to use this New Jersey Transit ALP46 engines, which are electric. I would like a track that will work well with a 4-wire catenary. I've noticed that the ALP46 pantagraph is too short for some of the catenaries, though I can adjust the spline point heights if needed. Are there any tracks that come with catenaries built in all as one spline?

Many thanks!

MP Quad has several version lengths ... I use it to lay straight a ways only (using it as a track spacing template) ... making curves with single track ... then when finished, I replace the MP Quad with single track also.

Generally multi track splines make for poor, swervey, curves, and malformed straights, and AI drivers sometimes have problems.

Very few people will or would use a multi spline track these days. Try using a spacer instead and just use the single track of your choice, it looks and works so much better. Have a look for "JK Spacer"'s on the DLS if your not too sure about your gaps yet.
There are some great tips and trick on track laying on the forum, give them a read and wave goodbye to amateur tracks.

What I've done before with dual track that I didn't like was to lay dual track where I wanted it and smooth/adjust the line, then go back through section by section with the single track I DID like, cut out a section of dual, lay the correct track to the east (joining to the old section of dual track), lay the other track back to the west (connecting to your existing track), and repeat. It actually goes remarkably fast.

It would be quite handy if there was a 2 and a 4 track template available, it would be about a base board in length, that can change track as soon as you clip any other track to it. Plus it would have over head catenary added, then you can add as many templates as you wish to your route, without too much fussing around with fiddly wires and catenary masts.

Your route would be built in double time, plus it could also be used as a test track, to see what a consists would look like, while on the track and under the wires. If something ever gets made like this, then I will be willing to pay for it, as it would be extremely useful and used all the time.

As said above, not many would recommend 4 track splines, or even 2 track as it can lead to problems.

There are 2 track and 4 track templates on the DLS made by me and there are others made by other creators, mine have 2 track with 4.5m track spacing and 5m track spacing, the 4 track template has 5m track spacing, all 3 are 100m long. You can place more then 1 of course to what you need, there are also smaller templates that you can use to keep track spacing going around corners.

This was done by using a combination of my templates and others:
