I really need help on getting Magicland's Alco C424's to work in TS12. Has anyone gotten them to work in 12? The error message claims that the main.texture cannot be found or is missing, but it is there! It does it for all the C424's. The loco won't work with that error present, it is in the surveyor list, but it won't appear on the track if you try to place it. It worked in previous versions including 2010. I tried running the .im file through pm2im, strip textures, but still don't work. Now I'm at a loss as to what to do next. There are 2 great eastern PA routes coming out for TS12 soon, and I really want to be able to use this locomotive in TS12, as there is a Reading RR version like one that is preserved at the Reading Railroad museum in Hamburg, PA. If someone has a fixed version, even just the .im file, would you be able to send it to me? I'll use it to replace the faulty .im in my version if it's the .im that is causing the error.

There must be at least a dozen C424's and C425's by n8phu on the DLS. There are new, highly detailed Alcos designed to work in TRS10 and 12. There is also a re-skin-able version if you want to try that route.

Dgallina took and did 2 CNW C425s from one of my blanks and uploaded them to the DLS.....

no fuss, no muss, works straight off the line.....

Calling PEV

I checked the mesh of magicland's C424 with PEV's Mesh_Text_Viewer and don't see main.texture used in any way except TEX_DIFFUSE and TEX_BUMP. Both of these are legal applications, hence, PM2IM can't correct anything. I checked the mesh in CCP and with PEV's Mesh_Viewer and it displays just fine. For some reason the Trainz graphic engine doesn't like it and won't displayit. Maybe PEV can check it out.

Maybe pretty please n8phu you could do a C424 (and a C630) in Reading? Or, do you have a blank template so that maybe I could try skinning it myself?

I have both.....

The 424 needs to go to the skinner, the C630 is in progress........

I was using magiclands Reading C424 in TRS10. I just tried it TRS12 and it works just fine with no errors or warnings. I don't remember how I fixed it, but it works. If no one objects and you still need it, send me a PM and I can send it to you.

Bob et al,

I've looked at this one before if it's <kuid:58843:52> or <kuid:58843:53>.

The first material is a "m.onetex" but it has two textures.. The main texture has been used in the Diffuse and Bump slots. I have used an unpublished tool to remove the bump slot reference and now it works fine. Remember that only normal maps work in the bump slot and you must have the appropriate material name as well. (m.tbumptex etc)

The repaired mesh from <kuid:58843:53> is uploaded here.

I'll leave it available for a couple of weeks from today for those who are interested.

Have fun.

Sounds like this 'unpublished tool' should be published!

Not this time Deane.. It's a tool for altering meshes and I don't wish to get offside with the community or N3V by providing such a programme.

I am happy to help any one who has a genuine problem that my standard tools can't repair. (such as this case)

Thank you very much for fixing this error. It was only TS12 that the locomotive didn't work, and there are some new Reading and Northern and NS Harrisburg line routes for TS12 coming out this year, the Reading and Northern is an update and an expansion of a previous release for earlier Trainz versions, and the Harrisburg line is a brand new version from Phillipsburg, NJ to Harrisburg, PA there is also a route from Reading, PA to Phillipsburg, NJ that was released a few years ago.

Wow! So I ran in to the same problem with another pair of C424s despite the required file being in the required folder. They won't display in TS12, but look just fine in Mesh Viewer and AssetX, and any attempts at repairing using the tools provided are to no avail. Message was "Error: Texture...main.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh..." I had a quick look in Mesh Text Viewer and it appears to be exactly the same as described above: The file main.texture is used in the diffuse and bump slots at the same time.
Is there a TS12 repaired mesh file floating around that a guy could use for his own personal enjoyment? Assets are:

<kuid:95125:4243>
<kuid:95125:4244 >

Hi Folks,

Just stumbled on this thread. I am running TS10 and have the same problem with 95125:4243. Didn't find 95125:4244 on the DLS so haven't tried that one. Main.texture.txt and main.tga are definitely there and the mesh displays no problem in mesh viewer or in trs04! Can anyone point me in the right direction to correct this error.

Thanks

Brian

There was a link to the corrected .im file, but it no longer works now. You'll have to ask PEV about it. I have a "repaired" locomotive in 12. I have the file, but it got moved somewhere else off my desktop, not sure where it is.
