Can a platform length be altered?

I am just wondering if a platform length can be altered at all? I have a station building with a platform attached with a length of 300ft. I want to put another platform of the same length on the opposite side of the track but the shortest I can find is 150m which is a platform in between two tracks. The shortest one I can find with it attached to only one track is 300m. both of these are considerably longer than 300ft.
Im presuming that it would have to either be built and imported or purchased if it cant be altered?

You could use an "invisible" station (one that shows passengers, yet is invisible), and then use a spline platform or whatever underneath the passengers of the inbvisible station to make your own station platform. Then there is always making your own station setup using the AJS Station Kit parts on the DLS (which is one awesome kit; invisible stations plus station platforms, walls, roofs, etc.!), and adding your own building to the setup. You might even be able to use one of the AJS invisible stations with your own platforms, etc.
