Can a Large Section of a Route be Deleted All at Once?

I am trying to create shorter, smaller routes than some available. As an example, I like the Montana Rail Link, but it is so long. I would like to cut about half of it off. Is there an easy way to do this? In surveyor, I can erase one entity at a time, but it would be nice to delete entire sections at a time.
