After reading the bulk of the comments here, some for TS2010, some against, for the last four years I used TRS2006, before that, TRS2004 and I migrated to that from UTC, right now, I'm running TC1&2, simply because TRS2006 won't run on my version of Win7, I'm assuming that because my copy is one of the earliest, and the 5 CD's used to install it, plus the downloading and installation of SP1, something went strangely wrong with the game, anyway, its not working as it should.
So now I'm using TC1&2, right now I'm forced to, I'm looking forward to purchasing TS2010, after going through the screenshot thread for 2010, yes I'm impressed with it, while TC has its issues, (name a single version of Trainz that doesn't!), I'm reasonably happy with the results, sure I have to fix things to make them work, like using an RS3 interior in my SD40-2's to make them show up, let alone having to use an enginespec out of what does show up in rolling stock to make other rolling stock show up, but thats the nature of the beast, as much of the legacy content from older versions just won't show up for one reason or another.
When I migrated to my new computer, which is really just an off the shelf computer from Sam's Club, which has much better graphics and capabilities than say something in the same price range from Circuit City, for over a year I had been using a rental, which was a POS Dell, lower than low end, even when we sold the same model at Sam's Club as our low end comp, it was better than the rental I was using, and I was still able to run TRS2006, so with my new machine, I don't doubt that TS2010 will work fine, I looked at the 2010 screens, and am impressed by whats in it, so as soon as possible, I will be purchasing 2010, and I probably won't bother looking back, except maybe to TC to continue running my narrow gauge content, but its only a matter of time before even prowler's items will be compatible with TS2010.
Auran has to move on, there is an awfully lot of legacy content that is weighing them down, like any software manufacturer, they have had their mistakes, (TRS2006 being one), while TRS2004 was very stable, great working program, its time has passed, its time for Auran to move on, and I for one, am looking forward to actually recreating the Withlacoochee River in TS2010!
Oh and BTW, I read the wiki on the announced dropping of support for the older assets, Auran has made it clear that many of those older assets will still be on the DLS, and that those with older versions of Trainz will still be able to download those older assets that work for their version of the game, I'm wondering where so many got the idea that Auran is just going to trash everything?
