Cab Problem With RRMODS Payware

Hello all I bought a Sd45 and a SD50 from RRMODS the units work great in TS12 but the gauge faces are washed out (see pic below). Does anybody know of a fix for this?

Me too!

My suspicion would be that the models use the "shell cab" technique to have the cabs affected by the exterior lighting. Unfortunately in their wisdom the game developers stopped this working correctly in TS12 and there is no simple work around or fix for it. That started in TS2009, I thought it would have been fixed by now in simulator. You could see it when using the new SD40-2s.

not the case at all. it does require extra care in creation of the geometry for each version, but nothing to do with the textures themselves. the fix is simple, use TS12 assets for TS12.

Hello

I get the same result when I run my 2004 RRMODS payware thru AssetX.

So the question is .....What version are you using...like norfolksouthern

said "the fix is simple, use TS12 assets for TS12."

Gerry

Over the years RRMODS has given me the best customer support.

Sad thing is, look at the main Payware page and it says "TRS2004 thru TS12".

One of the two actual SD50 pages says "These packs have been tested in TRS04, TRS06, Trainz Classics(Trainz Railwayz) and TS2009 for compatibility and are error free."

The other says "This pack has been tested in TRS04, TRS06, Trainz Classics(Trainz Railwayz), TS2009 and TS2010 for compatibility."

I am not saying anyone is trying to pull a fast one here, but I AM saying that they've been pretty sloppy in writing their website copy.

I don't know if you get different versions when you download, but there is only ONE download. No choice of versions or anything that I saw.

And as long as I'm bustin chops, I'll also say I got their payware Western Maryland caboose with interior and it's AWESOME. I really love it!

To fix this problem what needs to be done is to change the build number to 3.6 for TS12 in the config file and fix any errors that result from that. Trainz sets the brightness differently for assets that have a lower build number.

This, to me, is a problem with payware. I was burned once because I assumed that something would work in TS12, even though it said it was only tested in TS10. I won't make that mistake anymore. If I am going to buy something from someone, I post the question, "Does this work in TS12". If they say "Yes it does" and it doesn't, I want a refund...... I now do this with every payware product I purchase. Now if the web page states clearly that it works in TS12, then they should immediately issue a refund in my opinion, if it doesn't. And if they don't, then it should be posted to the Trainz community as a warning about purchasing that product.

i agree about this, but it might be up to interpretation if something 'works' or not. for example the cabs above, they work, you just cant see them very well because of the lighting changes in TS12.

Ok, I guess you could say that if an engine shows up with wheels it on it, it works!!!, so you shouldn't complain. I think we all know what " does it work" means, possibly adding in the word "properly" . The jpgs I am seeing, show that the cab displays are not working properly in TS12, and the customer should have been made aware of that before spending their hard earned money on purchasing it. I was chastised on another thread about not "doing my research" before I bought something that did not work (properly) in the version of Trainz that I have, TS12. It said on the payware web site that it was "tested in TS10" and that was all. I guess if you see something that is tested in TS10 or TS 2009, or whatever, that means that it is a good bet that that is the only version it will work in. To me, this is really simple, if I make a product that I want to sell to Trainz customers, this is what I would do, I would post on my website very clearly the following:

This Product that I am selling works and has been tested in the following versions of Trainz:

TS10
TS12
TS XXXX

etc....

That is not that hard to do, but it seems that some of the folks that are marketing their payware to the Trainz community totally avoid something as simple as this. This way, if it doesn't work, you have zero recourse as the buyer, as far as getting your money back for something that you bought which does not function in your application.

well it doesnt stop it from working. that cab is old and out of date, so it isnt any wonder it shows a bit differently in TS12. i guess that once this point is reached, it would be between the buyer and seller to work out. i do agree with you, but i dont consider the above to me broken and non-functional, just something the author needs to update.

Should have read that section that says you can request an update to 12 on some of their products :o Also, if it says tested in TS 2009 and 2010 Native mode, it will work in 12... It is only when it says tested in TS 2009/2010 compatibility mode that is when you question if it works or not.... Also in that other thread, a screenshot was shown of which it clearly states that it was tested in TS 2010 comp mode only...

It all boils down to this:

If you have made a purchase and there is an issue with it, whether the oversight is on us or on the purchaser, let us know and we will do our best to make it right. We are not trying to mislead anyone and we appreciate the support we get. The cab issue is an easy fix, but if you aren't up to doing it we can help you straighten it out. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Hello all,

Only the newest payware releases have an extra cab asset setup for TS12 since the changes. I can of course accommodate specific requests for updates if you want to email me about it. We are currently updating the GP50 series with new features and TS12 compatible shadow and cab view. Just email our site for what cab view you need updated or post on our forums.
