Buried yard track

Slave to my route
I'm looking for an asset the looks like buried yard track something like in the picture below.

Bury any track by about .15 (bit more or bit less depending) till the ballast is below ground and the tops of the sleepers still protrude, add ground texture, grass and weeds to taste. Probably easier with a no-ballast track, but once you get the hang of it, it's quicker to just stick with whatever tack you're using.

Easy in a flat yard area (which most of it will be) but a bit trickier on a grade....

It would depend on how "buried" you want it to look.

For buried so that the rail sleepers/ties do not show you can use "rail only" track. Alternatively you can set the splines to a specific height and then raise the ground up slightly to hide the sleepers but this can be fiddly at best and a nightmare at worst to get right.

For track like that shown in the image you can use track without ballast with some raising of the ground.

This is fiddley but it sure looks nice. If you do this, use a dark ballast or ash to fill in between the rails. In some places, have no ballast at all as if the ash has sunk down completely.

Back in the olden days, railroads used to use that a lot on their ROW too, especially if they were poor, instead of the beautiful pristine looking granite and limestone we use today and definitely in yards and engine facilities if the ballast was used for the mainlines. I learned about this from the former VP of Boston and Maine. When he saw a route being made by Steamboateng for the Hoosac Tunnel, he remarked that the track layout was perfect but the ROW was too clean. ;-)

One of the issues I have with Trainz is blending rusty track and dirty ballast with a well-maintained ROW.
