For 2009: I was wondering if anyone recreated the Northeast Corridor, Long Island Railroad and the New York City Subway system. Is the monorail available also?

After several months since being released, I was wondering what everyones take on Trainz 2009? I was thinking of getting it and was wondering what kind of feedback it's getting? No game sites mention much if any about TS2009.

Traniz isn't a game and doesn't have any blood and guts, not even good train wreck, so no idiot gamer is even interested.

Bob,
That was well said.
Yes Trainz does not feature the following;
*Blood
*War
*Skateboards
*Crime
*Guns
*Crime
*Rebelion
*Did I mention Crime?

The above are the makings of "true" games...and immorality.
Well, skateboard aren't so bad but you get the obvious point.
Trainz leads to learning and nurtures a passion,
The above lead to the problems we face in America today.
Why do so many kids have no respect for police officers...when they are the ones putting their life on the line for our safety?
Pick up a copy of Grand Theft Auto.
I love Trainz, it has none of that trash, it just has everything I love.
I better not get into my "disrespect in the average 12-18 year old" ramble.

Umm ok. I have been a train enthusiast for a while. I was disappointed with Rail Simulator since there were NO passenger scenarios in it for North America and the add-ons were for Europe only. Yes, that's your opinion on what a game is, I'm wondering if the downloaded content has grown on here ect. BTW, Im not 12 lol) I'm wondering if TS2009 is worth it.

2009 is a work in progress that some are happy to be using now, and others are glad to have it, but feel it will improve over time and don't use it now as their primary Trainz version.

The truth is, it could grow to be a beautiful buttercup in your meadow of a desktop, or it could fester into an ugly toadstool. It's hard to say.

Good luck.:)

Hope it's the first one ;) I've been keeping an eye on it since it was released. Has the Download Manager gotten easier?

With the current SP1 and a few additional patches, TS2009 is a pleasure to use. The performance is quite nice even in compatability mode that allows 90-plus percent of the old content to work just fine.

CM2 is really great and stable now. This is unlike the old CMP in TRS2006.

Your i7-based system should fly so you'll have no problems what's so ever from what I can tell.

Good luck,

John

See? Some are glad to have it. My own experiences are not quite so sun shiny, but that's the beauty of Trainz, your results may differ, and past performance is no indication of future satisfaction!

When I use 2009 in compatibility mode with alot of steam engines, or just alot of custom content, the trainz flash, and the bodies usually disappear, and the HUD will display only in the space between the horizon and the top bar, and it all goes to hell rather quickly until the program locks up and I have to perform a hard reboot.

My theory is that compatibility mode will suffer some amount of faulty content, it will not do so to an infinite degree, but that's just my musings on the subject.

CM2 is generally fine, although I find not much difference between it and CMP, as I am one of the truly gifted ones who has never had an issue with 2006 or CMP.

I hope you are among the lucky ones if you purchase!:)
