Build Number Question

Do you have the option to update? The latest plain build with SP4 I can see is 126273. If you go into Settings, then the Install tab and then click 'Check for Trainz Updates' that should find the patches. Service Packs 1 through 4 should be available.

Build numbers can be found here: Trainz Builds

Cheers,

PLP

Thanks PLP, when I click on "Check For Trainz Updates", it says "no updates available at this time". So I looked on that Trainz Builds list you referred to and I am up-to-date with my build, which is the Standard Edition version (Windows)!

Thanks.....!

Build 115985 was the first "Release Candidate" for Trainz Plus Beta (dated 22 Dec 2021). Latest build for Trainz Plus is 126280 (SP4).

Be smart though and archive a copy of your data and Trainz install onto an external hard drive before you try and 'update' anything.
I agree that backups should always be done. What I have described applies to the base game and there is nothing personal in this folder.
Everything personal, if the user has not moved it, is by default located in another folder, here:
Code:
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\N3V Games\trs22

Thanks everyone for your advice. I'm backing up my user (personal) files, and my installation files, but how do I go about removing this outdated version?

Uninstall or remove apps and programs in Windows

Windows 10

There are different ways to remove apps and programs, so if you can't find the one you're looking for, you can try another location. Note that some apps and programs are built into Windows and can't be uninstalled. You can try to repair a program first, if it's just not running correctly

Windows 11Windows 10

Uninstall from the Start menu

  1. Select Start and look for the app or program in the list shown.
  2. Press and hold (or right-click) on the app, then select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Settings page

  1. Select Start , then select Settings > Apps > Apps & features.
  2. Select the app you want to remove, and then select Uninstall.

Uninstall from the Control Panel (for programs)

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, type Control Panel and select it from the results.
  2. Select Programs > Programs and Features.
  3. Press and hold (or right-click) on the program you want to remove and select Uninstall or Uninstall/Change. Then follow the directions on the screen.

Thanks everyone for your inputs.....I've successfully backed up my previous installation and user data files/folders. I've also successfully downloaded and installed Trainz Plus. My question now is about a DEM route that I was working on with TRS 22. Where was that kept, and how can I get it back?

Thanks.....

After you've installed Trainz Plus, you can then select your data folder.

On the Launcher, click on Trainz settings.
Click on the Install tab.
Click on the ... on the right.

A File Explorer window will open up.

Browse and then select your data folder.

Once selected, a message will come up about updating translation tables and you'll have to restart. If all goes well, you have selected your data-folder that contains everything you've been working on.

Now for the important part:
Since the last few updates, the database repair does not always show a progress bar on the first installation. To view the progress, click on the Developer menu item on the Launcher and choose Show Client Logs. The window will open up and you'll see activity.

In addition to the Show Client Logs, we recommend pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ESC to show Task Manager. When Trainz.exe stops writing to disk, then your DBR is complete.

Thanks John, I followed the steps you gave, but unfortunately that did not work. I'm assuming that you were directing me to locate and select the Data folder from my backed-up files, and after doing so my DEM Route called "Marietta Sept 24" is not located in the Data Folder.

Problem Solved! I was able to locate my DEM Route (CPD file) from a previous TRS 19 installation, and I imported it to Trainz Plus.....! All is working fine for now.......

Thank you everyone for your help!

I was... sorry about that. I thought you still had your existing data folder on your hard drive. You know what they say about assumptions.

I'm glad you got things up and running for now.
