Hi All,

I have just spent about two hours searching the forums for the key sequence to make an automatic map in surveyor. I have used it before but only about two years ago and can't remember the keys. ATM I have three test tracks which are a bit boring with no scenery but don't want to spend time placing trees and making hills etc.

Cheers,

Many thanks to both bassist118 and alanti,

I am using both 2004 and 2009, now I will know where to find it next time.

Um ... what exactly does this do?

What if I don't like the map George makes?

Never used "George" apart from a quick test. It seems to create a random landscape with a few trees and stuff that is different every time? So the solution I would think is don't save it and try again until you get one you like?

Did you try it and see? It makes random hills and depressions and places groups of trees. Higher ground becomes textured with rocks if you leave it running long enough. Press Escape to stop.

if you don't like it, don't use it.

Hi All,

There is one thing to watch when using the auto map in 2009. It can remove trackmarks and rollingstock if you use it on an existing map. It's a quick and easy way to decorate your small routes, like test routes etc. but you will have to check the track, re-level the spline points and check for missing trckmarks.

Cheers,

P.S. Make sure all your spline points are yellow before using it, otherwise the track will go up and down with the terrain.

Yes it does.
If you use this on a new baseboard, then replace the textures and trees, tweak it and you can make some really nice baseboards to add in when you are ready.
