"BUGOR THIS!"

Bugor,

Thank you for coming here and explaining this to us. We're being a bit apprehensive seeing this large catalog of switches being uploaded with little or no description. We've had some incidents here in the past with people uploading stuff illegally and using the same image for all assets.

Knowing that it is you who is uploading his own works allows us to rest easy on this for now. I understand that it will be an undertaking more than imaginable to have to update all your content with a new description and image. As has been suggested, please make a post in the Freeware Announcement forum to let the folks know there will be a ton of stuff heading up to the DLS.

Kind regards,

John

Can u show me — what is freeware section? I am here so rarely, u can see it on my number of posts, and I don't know it. BTW, names are really different, but it's coding and I can show u, what does it mean, if u will interested on it. U see, our gauge is 1520, but not 1435, and it's so especially swithes, so u will hardly like it. But if u will like it — I will like it more, and I'll show you every my refreshing.

Ohh, what about 1/9 and 1/11, this number is tangens or angle. You have the same designation, aren't u?
This is:

I'd have to look to see if the difference is noticeable versus U.S. track, but thank you for the clarification.

The Freeware Forum is here:

Oh, as far as turnout measurements, we don't normally use tangent angle as such. We actually use a ratio derived from length versus amount of divergence:

I would say that the issue is not only the number of assets, but the fact that they appear to be all the same—they all have the same picture and description. As far as I’m concerned using the same picture is ok, I can see it’s a switch. The description is another matter. I downloaded TSM sw 1/9sL(ub) CRA SK14,<kuid2:502415:103326:2>. The description says it’s a right hand switch. It isn’t, it’s a left hand switch. I suspect that’s what the “L” in the file name means. Perhaps if I downloaded and compaired the other 1995 switches I could figure out the rest of your naming convention. I’m not going to do that and therefore your assets, no matter how well made or how much I might enjoy using them, are useless to me.

I appreciate the fact that creating almost 2000 separate descriptions would be almost as big a task as creating the assets themselves and certainly not as enjoyable. But I think that you could create one description that would explain each of the parts of the name (what do (r), (r-ub) and (ub) mean, etc.) and use that for all of them. Perhaps this is my lack of knowledge and the names you use are a standard in Russia (just as No.11 is a standard in North America). If so, then the description could just indicate that. That would be more useful than saying they’re all “Junction_1/11_Right 1520mm”.

PS: Your English is much better than my Russian :)

EDIT: Looks like it was all taken care of by the time I got this posted.

Ok, I understood u. But now my computer is far away from me, but I hope, that it will be near as soon, as I can. I will try to write in description universal transcription.
Description simply means, that here, in Russia, we don't look on it. Everyone here knows me, and everyone knows about me creations. And they just downloaded without reading description. And, if trully, I even coundn't image, that anyone behind Russia will ever see it.

What do you think about the largest catenary kit in Trainz? (#413547)
It is counts over 6500 unique assets, but that does not cause any issues.

PS: I uploaded this switches from Bugor's account.

Hi Bugor and all contributor's to this thread,

Well that seems to clear up the reasons for so many assets hitting the DLS. Thanks Bugor - and some great advice given for clarifying this issue in the future by directing Bugor to place a thread in the "Freeware Section".

A thought for N3V - is there a possibility to set up some form of a Regional DLS, this would certainly help with foreign non-English assets. or as was suggested to provide more filters on the DLS.

You mean all the little insulators and wires. :)

I saw them and my stomach churned inside as I thought about the hard work that went into those.

Please do post something in the freeware forum too the next time you upload a lot of content so not to scare away the patrons.

You maybe from Belarus, Russia, or even the Ukraine, but remember Trainz is in international and trains and railroads are international and share much of the same kind of equipment. You guys make truly awesome content and it would be a shame not to share it with everyone here. :)

Regards,

John

ps. My great grand parents came from the Ukraine in 1898 and 1903 respectively.

Hi Bugor,

Ok, I understood u. But now my computer is far away from me, but I hope, that it will be near as soon, as I can. I will try to write in description universal transcription.

Actually I and many other Trainz folk love Russian routes, the problem we have is locating hard to find assets that do not download with the route or are on some obscure Russian site.

I suggest that if you have a route you wish to share with the world that you also include downloads for the assets that are not on the DLS.

Under the circumstances in this particular case it looks as though this is a legitimate upload of a lot of switches, HOWEVER, it still narks many of us that N3V continue to put thousands of assets onto the DLS on the same day, I bet tomorrow there'll be about 30 uploads, why can't they get themselves organised that they only put on a few hundred at a time, whenever they have such a huge influx from the same creator, my CM is creaking under the strain of so many all at once, how many more years must our Content Manager's be inundated on this issue.

Cheerz. ex-railwayman.

The guy made assets, N3V hosted them and you're upset its to inconvenient for you? Maybe some of you should stop thinking the planet is out to screw your little Trainz world up.

Can't say that I disagree with that, but if they didn't get worked up about such things, just think of what we'd miss out on.....consider the following quote: "...solutions suggested that would involve N3V assuming responsibility for policing the DLS are elegant, maybe ideal..." You'd have to dig through a lot of posts to find a gem like that.....not to mention the passion expressed in posts....to the point of possibly driving their fingers clean through the keyboards as they're tapping out their consternation.....it's great!

Bugor
I really appreciate you coming on and informing us on all of the uploads. The only real problem that I have is that I like to view new uploads on the black pages and with the 1000 item limit, it's near impossible for me to easily see what else was uploaded the same day that so many assets hit the DLS. We need some more filters on the black pages to help us out in these situations.

Why do u can't use filter AND NOT and my author's nick? I guess, that not so many guys, who uploaded so many assets at once. U can be sure, that such uploads can be the only, cause usually I've created — I've uploaded. And because of this that assets upload by parts.

What about route's question, I'll create it any later, cause now I'm busy. Also in Freeware-Announcements.

Good day Bugor,

My earlier post was made under the context of illegitimate uploads which has happened in the past. (Example user Krash01) To remove mass-upload spam I suggested that such a filter can be applied, it was not directed particularly at you.

However you have come out to clarify that the recent mass-uploads from your account are actual assets. I was wrong about your uploads and for that I humbly apologize.

Regards,
Nicholas

Let forget it, I understand u. We also have here such people, who upload many content, what doesn't belong 'em. And we also don't like such guys.
