Connecting different worlds across the rivers, canyons and ravines, the trestles and bridges are some of the most spectacular things along the railroads. A good reason – I think – to open this thread.

I know there's a ways to go before i approach the quality of shots seen here, but I'm happy with it, and that's all that counts, really.
A double shot of twin bridges- road and rail. From a route that i am building in an attempt to improve my surveying skills.

Milwaukee Road’s Columbia River Bridge at Beverly, Wa

nice thread with nice screens. I agree bridges, trestles and viaducts are very impressive parts of the RR’s. So I like the idea to start this thread – thanks
Here is my first contribution to this thread:
A westbound train starts crossing the Beverly Bridge. It soon will reach Beverly Junction at the other side of the Columbia River. At Beverly Junction, the mainline to the Pacific Coast went to the right hand side and upstream. At the next miles, the train will have to climb the steepest part of the whole transcontinental line as the grade rises up to 2.2 %. From Beverly Junction toward the left hand side went the Hanford Branch downstream, which had a connection to an industrial RR operating north of Pasco. The Hanford Branch played an important part at the logistic during the construction of the Nuclear Complex at Hanford. Except the industrial RR operating north of Pasco, no tracks survived the dismantling after Milwaukee Road’s abandonment. Plans for using the Milwaukee Road corridor via the Beverly Bridge to shorten the BNSF line from Spokane via Pasco to Ellensburg between Lind and Ellensburg, Wa had unfortunately been dropped some years ago.
The two mid train helpers crosses the bridge, while the head power already reached Beverly Junction west of the River.
The head power already reached the uphill grade, while more than the half of the train still crosses the Beverly Bridge. See the Hanford Branch track bending toward the left hand side at the end of the bridge approach.
By the way, the Beverly Bridge still remains in our days but its completely unused as Milwaukee Road’s transcontinental mainline had been abandoned back in 1980.
