This will be a fantastic brand new roundhouse owned and operated by the old Ohio Central Raillroad Owner who sold out to another Railroad.

It will house former steam of the Ohio Central and the Nickel Plate 763 Berkshire.

Will be only the second roundhouse in operation is the USA I believe.
And only two hour drive................
Can't wait to tour it when it is done.

That looks cool! it looks like its kinda out in the middle of nowhere :hehe: I should defiantly plan on visiting this one day

Saw this in the February (2010) issue of Trains. Thank God for Jerry Joe Jacobson...his engines live pampered lives, don't they? :hehe: :D

I'm still praying for a doubleheader with 763 and 765. That would be awesome, would it not?

He has our Hagerstown turntable... Too bad we don't have our own roundhouse anymore, but at least the table will get some use.

My understanding is Jerry Joe Jacobson will have the 763 done in 2012 to 2013 and yes I have heard a rumor a double header is planned in Michigan. His current (steam/diesels he kept) engines are available for leased excursions.

It's about 3 hours from me. I have been following the progress for over a year now. I can't wait for it to be finished.

It would be no point for him to try to move one of his steam over CSX, they'll simply give him a big fat NO. NS, maybe, they're getting back in the steam excursion business this fall, but excursion routes and excursion lengths are unknown except for the short trips over NS at TVRM this Sept. for Railfest.

Since this thread surfaced again, I'll reply to the comments that I didn't see in its last lifetime.

Torpedo423, yes, that's the one.

Stagecoachdriverdave, you're right, it would be great to see the turntable kept in town, but having it operate is better preservation than letting it sit and rust. Though its original purpose and home is gone, I hope it still provides years of service to its new owner (lessor actually, for 40 years or so.) The Roundhouse Museum has more use for funds than a turntable at the moment, so I suppose it is best that this happened. Jacobson offered an ex-CR flatcar with a generator on it as part of the deal to provide HEP to the Roundhouse's new ex-MARC coaches but this would have been overkill since the car was used to power an entire MoW camp and not just six coaches... :hehe: I'm glad even as a diehard WM fan that I'll be able to go see it in the condition it will be in out there than have to crawl through the weeds where it used to sit and brave the snakes in the turntable pit (too many to bother unless it was winter really) to see it.
