Bodie & Benton Railway

I have started a project called the Bodie & Benton Railway. It is located in Mono County, California. Its primary service was to haul lumber and cordwood to the town and mines of Bodie. Does any one have information on this route that you know of and could you please share with me either on this forum or a privite message. Thanks, hopefully i can get some photos up sometime this week.

How do you start a historical route with no information, what is your motivation to tackle this project?

"California High Country Narrow Gauge" by George Turner has much of the route info.

Narrow Gauge and Shortline Gazette had several diagrams of locos and rollingstock a few years ago. (I'd have to dig through my collection to find it.)

Good luck and god speed, this would be a great project.

Slugsmasher could you send me those narrow gauge and shortline gazett pages to me please i been waiting a couple of months to get them from someone else but they are not responding to me. Thanks please PM me soon.:)

I have infornation about it but i haven't yet put it up i will soon, And my motovation is that i wanted to recreate and historical route that involves logging and mining. ( I love those ways of life from back in those days and it just seems intresting for me to do this).:)

Update the rails have been laid from Mono Mills to Bodie, and the sidings have been put in place at Warm Springs and Lime Kiln. Now going to work on the Mono Mills to Lumber Camp spur.
