Hi Dermmy, glad to hear perfection is near.
Regarding signals, would it be prototypical to use the Safetrans hooded signals and their respective signal gantries in the state of California?

I've noticed in photographs the gantries are those like you're using, but I've also noticed Searchlight signals as well, although never both types in the same photograph. I've tried putting Searchlights on a Safetrans gantry but it doesn't really fit.

I'm sorry if I sound a little silly as I don't live in the United States.

I don't get too hung up on that sort of prototype accuracy, I just try to get something that looks OK and works with the Trainz AI. I had searchlight sigs on Clovis1, but I am swapping most of them out on Clovis2. I have photos from the April 07 Trains magazine (which inspired the route) which shows searchlight sigs on the main at Clovis, and both hooded and unhooded Safetrans (in one instance on the same post) at West Cardenas and East Sais. On Clovis2 all the main line signals will be post-mounted Safetrans with gantry-mounted Safetrans wherever needed to avoid a signal post between main running lines, plus a few for eye candy because the gantry is one sexy model! A few older Searchlights will be left on sidings etc...

Yeah Andy. I've come to realize true accuracy is a real killjoy. Been laying track for Barstow yard since 3 hours ago and nowhere near half-done. Scrapping everything and back to the sketch board with a simplified track layout.

When you place the signal gantries, do you connect the track to the provided fixed segments or just leave the invisible track and lay over it? I do the former on flats and the latter on grades, although I don't know the difference other than the former being a good guide for spacing.

I'm working on a representation of Mojave, Cajon and the LA River, but forsee this will be a mammoth undertaking. Don't tell anybody! :hehe:

I had the lights on. Look at the picture where the train goes through the mountains. You see a glare from the headlights.

Umm no you don't...those are the ladder lights... :hehe:

This fairly ordinary screenshot represents something of a milestone. This shot will not be possible in normal operation on the completed route, the locos are standing midway along the Union Pacific eastern entry portal (representing Kansas City) and the train is posed along the scenic tail track beyond the portal with the 'edge of the world' just out of view. This shot represents the completion of work on a 35 mile section of the UP Tucumcarri Sub. Now back to Vaughn and about 30 miles of BNSF transcon and Clovis2 is finished....
