BNSF Clovis Sub

Andy.. You are still putting out amazing layouts! I still have your Southside Urban Switching layouts from a few years back!

Great looking route, Dermmy !

I have to say that I don´t know much about american railways, but this layout looks very interesting to me. I really like the way you build the landscape. I think the time has come to drive one of this long freight trains by myself. ;)
Have fun and keep up that nice work. :Y:

Thanks folks - I am completely blown away by the response :)

For the record the route is being built on this:

Intel E6300 2 Core DUO CPU
2GB PC6400 DDR2 RAM
7600GT 256MB Graphics Card
ASUS P58E Mobo

Graphics are 1280 x 1024 @ 60 Hertz
Anti aliasing 4x
Anisotropic 8x
DirectX

Draw distance is tweaked out with TrainzTuner to about 2.5 km (zfar=2410) with fog set using TT at about 10% for just a hint of distant 'haze'.

Framerates are more than acceptable along the line. Using tracking cams they drop to mid 30's (ZD Game Recorder) as the view changes then climb as the camera pans. Through Belen (the only framerate challenge on the route) they are currently mid-20s with a fair bit of RS sprinkled about, but will drop as texturing and detailing continues. There also needs to be a rudimentary town against one end of the yard. Keeping the camera low will help. I hope  . Significantly better fps is possible simply be leaving the default draw distance. But it doesn't look as good.....

Some more general shots along the route....

Yes, there are too many Gp60s, but it is such a beatiful model.

Kismet,

If Andy's previous works are anything to go by, he seems to put priority on performance rather than needless frame rate crippling overclutter. Recommend you download his McCall Yard masterpiece and see how it runs on your machine.

Naturally my suggestion will not be an exact measure, but you may be able to get some sort of idea.

Cheers,
Simon.
Thanks Forest. I've seen screenies of the McCall Yard layout before and it looks good so i'll give it a try. And yeah, from the look of the pics I should be able to run this layout pretty well, even if it's on default settings.

Andy your rig is quite an improvement on mine. My main problem is my shotty AGP 4x graphics slot and my turtlespeed 5400rpm Hard Drive I think. :hehe:

I agree with you about the GP60 too. I love settin a few of those up to admire. Great shots as usual!

Looks great! I used to live about 20 miles south of Clovis when I went to college. The Santa Fe tracks were practically in my backyard (1/2 block from the house).

Southern Pacific power is probably stretching things a bit, but what the heck!

An eastbound trio of Frank's beatiful (but unreleased) SP C44-9Ws approach the junction to the Madrone industrial area. Nestled in the space between the main and the spur track is a memorial to Alastair Dussart. This is the area I was working on when HJP passed away, and it seemed appropriate to place Mike's tribute at this spot...

Andy.

Nice shots Dermmy, I am really looking forward to the route!

How did you get the c44-9s if they are unreleased?
Would like to also have some of those!
Is it possible for you to E-MAIL me?

Spot On !!!!!!!

Dermmy,
Several years ago I was in the Albuquerque area for a week or so. When I am away from home I will almost always check out the local Railroad flavor.I got up very early one sunny morning and drove down to the BNSF transcon line west of Belen ,I would say about 20 miles ,and photographed the constant parade of Double Stacks and TOFC trains. Endless vistas for many miles in any direction.I believe that this particular Point on the line was on the crest of a grade I could hear the westbound trains coming long before I could see them. Also went up to Glorietta Pass, but thats another story!I never did get to the line East of Belen, but from what I saw you have captured this part of the US quite well.I look forward to running Trainz on your Route someday.Nice Job! Thanks,Randy

Thanks Randy :)

A train off the El Paso line passes Belen on the main with the Eastbound refuelling racks in the background...

Eastbound auto racks pass through the tiny hamlet of Becker...
