Blender exporter

total noob question, unpacking the exporter and the readmer says to copy the exporter into the scripts folder, as it is a clean blender install there does not appear to be one, do I just create it and place the exporter in it?

cheers
pete

never mind, figured it out:-)
Not here were do i put the export file thingo

Like stated in the readme, you should put the files into the folder scripts which contain all python scripts delivered with Blender. Where this folder is located depend on your choices during Blender setup. If you let Windows search for a file named "scripts" and include hidden, system & sub folders you should be able to locate the right folder in any cases.

@whitepass:
Did you get any other message?

I've had a preliminary look into Blender and Paul Hobbs' tutorials. Before I go any further, can someone recommend the best combination of blender and exporter for stability and fit with tutorials? I have 2.46 at the moment, and "no previous" with gmax etc.

thanks

On a 32 bit XP system I'm running 2.49b and the latest 69 exporter. As far as I am aware there are no issues. Whitepass had some issues with 64 bit version of Blender and the exporter I believe.

Thanks John.

I've found the wikibook now. I've a couple of simple scenery items I want to make for my route.

Hmm, than I'm absolute clueless what happens.

I fear I must owe you a solution until I get my hands on a 64bit-Windows to test the script with 64bit-Blender.

It now works under Win7 64, did not work under Vista 64. Now have a bug in Blender, the "recently opened" is not working.

I have a spare copy of Win 7 64 bit but its sitting in London and I can't get to it. If you're passing through I could arrange for it to be made available.

Thanks John, but that's not necessary.

The problem is moreover a lack of time and hardware. All my systems are 32 bit and currently in use. I guess you know the drill: Never touch a running system! ;)

Problem with animation

Help me please!

I Try to make animation like in tutorial "A Blender Tutorial Building a Simple Loco Part 3 Animation and Exporting © Paul Hobbs 2009"

I try to make it one half of day. I Blender animation wokk exellent, but in Trainz 2009 i successfull export model of bogey, but animation doesn't work.

Can anybody help me?

I install correct parent relationships like in tutorial, I use last version of importer (0.69), I use names of lattices like in tutorial, but it doesn't work! I can't understand why...

You can download my bogey here:

or here:

What has probably happened is that you exported the bogie as 'bogie.xml' for example and the exporter created a 'bogie.im' and a 'bogie.kin' file (you did export the animation as well I hope, it's an option in the exporter dialog box). The 'bogie.kin' file needs to be renamed as 'anim.kin' for a bogie to work.

You also haven't reset the animation to linear rotation as mentioned in the tutorial using the IPO Editor, that's why the wheels don't rotate smoothly.

Thank you very much, this advice is successfull help for me.

Another question. After exporting model to Trainz I have too sided mesh - each polygon have texture in too side - front and back. How I can make that polygon have texture only in front size?
