Bizarre files associated with route = Confusion

After managing to recover a route I thought had been lost (on opening it for edit in explorer, no files were displayed) I now have a config and the map files, etc. as thus.

config
mapfile.bmk
mapfile.gnd
mapfile.lyr
mapfile.obs
mapfile.trc
mapfile.trk

One question though. I seem to have acquired a few extra ones as below.

profile 16KB WinXDVD DAT files
profile.lyr 1KB LYR file
profile.obs 1KB OBS file
profile.trk 1KB TRK file

What the hell are these? I can't say I've seen these before so if anyone has a suggestion, I'm all ears. These files appeared first in TS10 today and which I've subsequently migrated to TS12.

Just guessing...are they files associated with a session for the route that were attached?

I'm not sure Ed. There was a session which I merged into the route before saving. The plan was to import only the route into TS12.

My best guess is to clone what I have, delete the extra files in one version and try loading it up. Stand by for profanity.
