Best way to make a scrap yard?

Before you ask, no, I'm not asking for what the best way is to make a scrap yard: that is stated to opinion and opinions vary. I'm actually asking what the best way is to make a scrapyard look ... spooooooooooooooooookyyyyyyyyyyy.

Ok, maybe that long spooky wasn't necessary.

But, my point is, in my opinion, scrapyards for vehicles are meant to bring chills to your bones, afraid if you know what I mean, especially in popular media. So, once again, I ask, what's the best way to give a spooky feeling to a scrapyard? Would smoke be involved? Please state your opinions.

P.S. Ok, I know I said that opinions vary. But it wouldn't hurt to know what others think would make scrapyards look terrifying.

Try converting Ben Neal's SD9 to a scenery object and put a rusty/graffiti skin on it and put it in the yard. Wouldn't look scary per se, but it would look pretty cool.

Dark color's, loads of debris, old cars, old caravans, metal plates, junk, more junk, high piles of metal junk blocking a clear view across the yard.

I can see that you all have good suggestions: here's my response to each of them:

It could work Epa, but I was actually referring to a layout. Also, to be honest, I don't know how to make rust.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea Oknotsen, but it will take more than that to get chills into your bones.

Stick a few pumpkins around the place, thought you mercans knew all about halloween. :hehe:

Of course I know about Halloween Blackwatch. However, the trouble with your idea is that I want to make it look real and scrapyards don't really have pumpkins, do they?

Well, any other ideas?

A realistic scrapyard isn't going to look scary. It's probably the least scary place ever. And I've seen many and been to one.

It's designed to serve a purpose.

Sorry about that, but it's just my opinion.

I donno about that ... The Freddy Kruger was buried in the deepest bowels of the biggest, most scariest, junkyard !

There is a smoke / fog asset on the DLS

Scrapyards do have pumpkins, they're well known for it ;)

;)

Also, an abandoned warehouse or similarly imposing building nearby and/or large trees, possibly devoid of leaves.

Cheerio,
Nicholas

It may be a bit difficult, but having rusted out, busted up cars/locomotives sitting so that their front ends have the appearance of sad, forlorn, and even ghastly faces. Some dead trees with hanging moss, etc. Old wrought iron fences. Think of it like a haunted graveyard.
