Best version forum if you have issues with earlier versions for later versions?

Sorry but that's the best title I could up with that can describe what I'm trying to say.

If you have an issue with an earlier version, such as an item for TS2006, that you need to download to a later version, such as TS2010, which forum would it be seen better either by the author(s), and/or people that may know how to fix an item?

Should I use the TS2010, TS2006, or just this General Forum?

PS: Is each section known as a forum, or section, as I usually thought forum refers to different forums (as in different boards)?

If I have had a problem, I usually place it into the forum of the Trainz title, I'm having the problem with.

So for example... I had a piece of content that was built in 2006, and worked fault free in Trainz 2006, but I'm using it in Trainz 2010 with a fault, Then I would use the Trainz 2010 forum, so to let others know what version you are using.

However, if I was looking for a content creator, I would probably use the General Trainz forum, as someone on there will either know them or know where to find them.

Eventhough, I have found some of these talented content creators hiding in the Content Creation Support forum from time to time, and the freeware and payware announcements forum.

Hope this helps

I've written this so that any newcomer can appreciate the structure of the forum. I'm not trying to show you as some kinf of clueless nit. :)

All forums have the same structure. There really aren't that many Forum scripts out there so they all tend to be the same.

VBulletin and PHPBB (the one I use) are actually called Bulletin Boards. That term goes back to the days of DOS. Trainz calls theirs theirs the Trainz Discussion Forum, but Forum isn't really the correct word because the Trainz Forum is actually a collection of forums.

As you know, the Trainz forum is divided up into categories (Mainline, Community etc.) and each category has a number of forums where a specific subject is discussed. Each new topic inside a Forum is a Thread, and each new discussion in that thread is a post.

A well structured Bulletin Board will have several categories, each containing several forums. The Trainz Forum is okay but it does miss a couple of vital forums. One that comes to mind is "Off Topic" where people can have a rave. it was very popular in the old forum.

In a nutshell, if you would post about a 2010 issue in that specific forum. If your subject covers all Trainz versions, use General Trainz, it it's a community thing, use Community.

Keep in mind that many regular users don't read all the forums. They just read the 2010 forum for example and miss many important threads elsewhere. Although I read all new posts, I usually only post in General Trainz or Trainz Community. As such, some people manage to not know about the Trainz Community News or the recent 2010 Route Building Competition, both of which were, or are publicised heavily.

To read every new post and stay well informed, I suggest you read my article called Forum Tips in the June edition of the Trainz Community News.
It's a free download.
