Best Screen Capture

Hello Everyone. Which screen capture software is the best? Fraps, Camstudio, or Bandicam? I would like to record the game, but I would like one that produces the most high quality video. Thanks

Hi Watemple,

I used to use Fraps,it got the job done.Freeware version only allows 30 seconds of record time, but if you purchase full version your not limited, file sizes are huge. The latest version does support
quad core cpu's.

Now I use Shadowplay,it's GPU driven and records in H.264,can't tell its running when recording but is limited to high end Nvidia cards-
From the Wiki;-

Nvidia ShadowPlay is a hardware accelerated screen recording utility for Windows PCs using GeForce GPUs, made by Nvidia Corp as part of its Geforce Experience software. It is similar to programs like FRAPS but uses new dedicated frame capture API which eliminates the traditional 50+% FPS loss from framebuffer capturing. It also utilizes dedicated H.264 video encoding hardware found in 600 and 700 series graphics cards to allow the captured content to be compressed in real time to further improve performance.[SUP][1][/SUP] ShadowPlay can be configured to record continuously with a rolling buffer of customizable length, allowing the user to save the video retrospectively if something interesting has happened in their game, without having to remember to start recording beforehand.[SUP][2][/SUP] ShadowPlay currently only supports games that use DirectX 9 or higher

I don't think it will,Nvidia only chipsets 600 series and above, something to do with frame buffer, one of the reasons I opted for a card with 4 gig ram onboard,I do allot of video editing.

It was due to 500 series cards and anything previous lacking a dedicated H.264 video encoder alongside the GPU, which 600 series Kepler introduced from the GTX650 onwards.

MSI Afterburner includes a very effective recording solution that works with both AMD and Nvidia GPUs. It's no Shadowplay mind you, however it's still very effective, watermark free and the software boasts additional features such as GPU overclocking and fan profiling.
