Babysitting CMP

Well I finally purchased a computer capable of efficently running Trainz, and I've been playing around with downloading content. I don't seem to have problems similar to others. I can download just fine and at a normal 5-odd KBps rate, but I find the program "hangs" at the end of a download. It will download say two or three items, then hang on the fourth one when it completes it 100% - it will not advance to the next item in the list. It says downloading at "x" KBps, but it's not actually downloading anymore, lol. I find I have to manually close CMP and reopen it and then the program keeps on downloading the next few items then hangs again...! I can do this all day, 40 or more times, which is quite frustrating!

Does anyone have any thoughts on why it's doing this? Or is it just the way it is? I spoke with the helpdesk, but they offered no useful solutions. Thanks for any help.

Cheers, Brent

PS: Another question: If I'm using the CMP manager that came with TRS2009, can I still download and play routes and use content in TRS 2006? How would I do this? It seems to default commit the new content to TRS2009. Thanks again.

Hi, I don't know any solution about your first question but re your second one:

You can download each Kuid separate via the FTP d/load link on the DLS's download page and install it via TRS06 or any installed Kuid in TRS09 can be exported as a CDP to install into TRS2006. Obviously only these Kuids working for TRS06 will work in TRS06.

I had the issue for a while, then it went away. All that you have to do is press stop, then start and it should move on.

CMP hanging...

Brent,
I can offer you three friendly suggestions; Firstly, "turn off" as much as possible running in the background. Leave your firewall running. (I turn off my A/V while downloading from the DLS).
Secondly; Don't try and download to much at a time. I select about 25 - 30 items, download them, then select another 25 - 30 items, download them, and so on....
Thirdly; CMP (TRS2006); if you try and do something else on the computer while you are downloading, it sometimes makes your download hang. (CMP freezes up). The only way to get it started again is to close CMP down & re-start it. (really fustrating)...

Auran is awhere of this bug. There was a post awhile back where Tony acknowledged the problem. Unfortuneately in 2006 CMP, we just have to live with that.
Their only advice on a work around. Don't try and do anything else - any other task while downloading in TRS 2006 CMP. (I just leave my mouse alone while actually downloading). By following these simple rules, I rarely encounter any problem/s.

CMP2 in 2009 works much better & doesn't appear to have the hanging problem...
Cheers, Mac... ;)
