Automatic Numbers (ARN) and portals

Hello All

I'm attempting to have an all orecar consist appear in a yard from a portal on a regular basis. The car I'm using is Ben Dorsey's wooden orecar (KUID 546000:100152) - available from the Trainz Proroutes site. Problem is, when the consist emerges from the portal it will not retain car numbers - so all the numbers are 000. Is there a way for the consist to retain car numbers????

I've been trying to use "Portal Basic Short", KUID 96914:22000. The idea is to have consists of ore cars appear on a regular basis in the arrival and departure section of the yard.

Hey, I think this might be the crux of the issue, the config file looks like an older version of arn - it is very different then the current version available for download. It is also not setup to generate an auto-number. It looks like the config file needs to be updated/re-setup.

I suspected as much. Portal Basic Short does not work properly with driver commands and other various applications. Try using the standard portal or the HP portal. I prefer Maggs Re-Rail Portal. Either of these should fix you problem.

I would think that the fact that the portal is called "Portal Basic", is enough to tell you that it won't be set up for your desired requirements. :hehe:
(But then that needs a basic understanding of the ENGLISH language.)
