I purchased Trainz 12 last night.. The Content manager was working fine.

This morning however, every time I try to login with the game, it says authentication failed.. Nothing has changed since last night. I can login to the forums and the content server fine with the browser..

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated..

Yes.. Its not authenticating in the Options screen .. nor in the game..

Yet I can login here and at the Planet Auran via webpage.

I've not changed a thing.. but all of a sudden its working.. hopefully a temp hiccup.
Thanks for the assistance however.

Hi Repaid22,

Welcome to the new forums. It looks like you haven't posted in quite some time.

I received an error around 2:00 am this morning within Trainz its self because it couldn't contact the Planet Auran servers for authentication. As of right now I am able to login fine using Content Manager, so I wonder if there was some kind of glitch that caused the problem earlier today.

If you continue to have problems, you may have to contact the helpdesk but we'll try to help you first.

Thanks everyone..

Hello John... yea its been quite a long time. :) The last version of Trainz I messed with was 2006, still sitting on my shelf... got a good deal on the 12 version so I dove in again. I do have a few issues with it which I will probably be posting about in the near future if I do not find other thread dealing with them. Honestly I do not even remember the old forums, the new one is quite nice however.. really good format, easily read, well laid out. Wish I could say the same for the Trains download center :)

Its still working quite nicely .... still getting used to all of it. I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with the game... and lots of conversation in the forums.

Again I revisit this topic.. as I'm constantly getting logged off of even the webpage.. Trainz login works only sometimes.. one second I can login the other I cannot. I'm always getting Authentication Failed please retype your password to try again. Something is seriously going on here.

Hi Adam,

You joined then just as the old forums had crashed. You missed a good time back then.

Anyway. Try clearing your cookies and then checking the box under your forum login to remember you. That should work fine.

Nov 5th, this past weekend I bought Trainz12 SP1. Downloaded and installed. Registered online at Planet Auran. Had to submit trouble ticket to get the First Class ticket entered so I could activate it.

When I first installed Trainz12, I was able in the Config menus to enter the serial number in the game, AND to enter the Username and PW used for account on Planet Auran. It was accepted.

Since then, I have tried several times a day, day and night, but when I start Trainz12, the username and password are rejected with 'cannot authenticate' message. I know they are entered correctly, I have multiple times, letter by letter, carefully entered them. Besides they were right and worked once, the first time.

Over the weekend, I noted that even on the web site there were some pauses and timeouts and poor response times. But right now, I can to to the planet Auran web site and logon with no problem and review my account. I can login to the support tickets, which requests separate login with same credentials. And I just logged in to this form, same credentials.

But if I start the game, it fails to authenticate. If I go to downloads, I get the big fat red and white error message across the bottom telling me I am not authenticated / legitimate.

No, it is not a firewall issue. I turned of the Windows 8.1 firewall completely, all there network classes. No security software beyond the default MS Defender has been installed yet.

My network is a Comcast business class high speed network, and is working just fine, I have repeatedly reviewed it to make sure that is not the issue. I have pretty much T1 plus throughput speeds on my network.

I just ran a speed test using speakeasy.net speed test, going from Indiana to San Francisco, and I get 11.31 Mbps down, and 4.93 Mbps upload speeds. Repeated test to Seattle, got 13.33 down, 4.94 up. To Washington, D.C., got 20.38 down, 5.01 up. So I am not suffering from lack of throughput.

I tried deleting all cookies and Internet history from both IE and FireFox, both browsers had been used to access Planet Auran. No dice. Problem continues.

T:ANE 78660 Win 7 Ultimate

Finding that I am receiving the "Authentication Failed" message under the Internet tab in the Train Settings. I of course can get onto the site with the details, but since last night, my install will not login. Have cleared out the details, shut down, restarted and re-entered the details.

Then went and changed my password successfully here on the site. Went back and entered the new password, still no change.

Up until yesterday there where no issues except the odd time where TANE losses its mind and resets everything and auto changes itself to offline mode. But I have always been able to change it all back.

Any ideas? Anyone else seeing this behavior?

UPDATE: So I tried one thing which was normally I have had my email as my user details, never been a problem. Dropped the @gmail.com bit and now logs in fine.

Build 78660 is the Kickstarter edition. There's a check box under your user login information to disable the internet. This is enabled by default and needs to be unchecked in order to authenticate the product the first time, even after a database rebuild. Once that's done, you can then check the box again and work offline until you want to download something from the Download Station (DLS).
