authentic coronas...

Should be possible to change the coronas in the configs to something more suitable, may have to make your own though, probably get help on this in the Content creation forum.

Can anyone point me in the direction I need to go to attempt to do this with the searchlight signals that come with the Mojave Sub on TR12?

Search for 'corona' using CMP. Find what you prefer/like and download them then use CMP to replace the existing coronas. It should be in the KUID list in CMP.

Make sure you clone the original signals first and make changes to the cloned versions. Just in case you break them in the process!

you wont fix them with the coronas alone. i am sorry. i should have made the colors a bit better and i have been making changes toward that now, but the only way to fix them is to modify every one.

Love the searchlight signals in 12, but, the colors certainly could be better. Is it possible to incorporate some more authentic reds, yellows and greens like the following?

There aren't ANY coronas being used in those railworks assets, just coloured lenses and reflection of the lighting on the hood.

You could produce exactly the same assets in trainz, but it wouldn't really involve coronas any more than any other signal, the trick would be to change the hood texture along with the lens texture for each aspect.

Coronas are really an iffy solution to the problem anyway, they look awful close-up, and more often than not don't quite appear right at distance (often only being useful if you're zoomed in 6 steps beyond the normal default zoom, from cab view).

A better solution is probably corona-free signals that use the LOD system to provide decent visible lenses at distance.

(Although coronas at night in certain weather conditions could look nice and prototypical - real life (non-stellar) coronas are caused by ice particles and sometimes near-dew-point water particles in the air, it's very unusual to see them in the day time)

well i thought so too, but you cant see mesh objects that far away, so i had to come up with a hybrid mesh and corona system. the coronas do not appear unless the view is a certain distance away from the signal. the signals he is asking about do use that feature, but they do have some pretty awful colors. i can only apologize for the awful color choice. there are already replacement coronas on the DLS for them, but the lens parts themselves have the bad coloring still. i can replace them, but its a lot of assets to update (around 240 signals). i have already done so on my own system, its just a matter of updating the versions and getting them to the DLS. you can see some here:

oh man! those are much better! might we see some come available as payware of freeware? I'd definitely be willing to pay some money to get even a portion of the signals on my Mojave Sub converted in the future.

Those look great, Justin. I will have to grab them when they become available on the DLS. :D

Also, many thanks for putting the searchlight SmartSignals on the DLS!

Regards,

Retro.

the ones on the Mojave sub are using smart signal scripting yes. 'smart' being that they work differently than the default trainz logic. that was around 145 custom searchlights i made for Mojave. the ones on the DLS are not for any particular route and are generic.
