Australian screenshots

yes, we get the point.

Now stop SPAMMING this freaking thread, will you!

That will not result in the instantaneous appearance of content you want.

Now, GO AWAY!

Come on mate give the bloke a chance, he likes 80/s maybe we should send him back to 1979 when they were built he might get one there, till then dont bother as with your spam as my pc is as slow as a turtle.

@Trent and Axe; Looking good, the two of you. The routes aren't too bad, either, now i think about it.:hehe::hehe:

Have a few WIP Surveyor shots of my own, after i got carried away laying track for what was supposed to be a mainline with loop and goods siding.
Apologies in advance to those of you who dislike seeing grid squares; these shots feature plenty.:p

Looking East: In the distance is the stock siding, lower left is Loco; with goods sidings to the right.

Looking towards the platform road; with loop sidings and dead-end storage to the left, with Flour Mill on right.

Closer view of the Flour Mill.

Looking West; overall view of the goods sidings.

Track work nowhere near complete; I still want to add an oil depot, grain silo and possibly a smallish cement siding. I also have to add another baseboard, and complete the three loop sidings, shown in the 2nd/4th shots.

Cheers,

Matt.

*is still 100% irritated, that there is NOTHING in there (route wise) for we Aussies, its all US/UK, etc stuff, sure, thats where the market is, but we got some mighty fine route creators here in Australia, so why weren't we even given a 'consideration' - oh wait, thats right, we're Australian, so we'll get the rough end of the pineapple, again and again - yes, I bought TS2012, I support the company, whose game I enjoy, but the lack of anything Australian to enjoy - that just gets me down.

Im surprised Waldavable (i think thats how its spelt) was not inbuilt with TS12. I brought TS12 and the anniversary addition so i support it but they do need to put more Australian content in it!

Hey Mulie :)
I think you will find that the only Australian route submitted to Auran for inclusion, has been used to death. Wadalbavale was built by a trainzer who wanted it included in 2004 (I think). He is now semi retired (I believe?) from Trainz.

Now someone is sure to correct me if I am wrong, but NV3 or whatever they call themselves this year, did not build one of the maps that were included in 12? If that is so, then it is useless to complain that no Australian maps were included, no?

If we are such great map makers, going on all the back patting I see on this thread, then what happened to the finished maps?

I think you will find no suitable maps from Australia were offered to NV3 for inclusion. So don't blame NV3, we should be blaming ourselves for being so disorganised.
Whilst we are all sitting here on one of the biggest threads, since the Forums returned, and yet we have produced nothing tangible (to include in 12 or anything that comes after)

Now that statement is sure to get up lots of noses ;) Enjoy
But show me / us the proof I am not 100% correct in this ;)
Where is the finished Australian map that NV3 ignored to, instead, place those magic maps from OS in Trainz 12. And if one was knocked back, was it honestly as good as those that were included?
Now before you fly off and write something foolish. Think about what I am saying.
Not one released map is worthy of inclusion in Trainz 12.

Boy, I'd rather build a loco than carry on with this trackside stuff
I've finally gotten around to finishing off my catenarys .....well, nearly finishing
I have set the gantry's up as trackside assets, which means they're stuck to the track and will remain a constant height and side distance to the track.

I have made the overhead wire as a spline and you have to lay that, adjust the height to match the gantry and position the spline points under the insulators.

I don't have a problem doing it this way but I thought I'd ask the forum for your views?

Please ignore the V set :p

Cheers
Davido

How's catenarys? they're looks great. May I ask, how many do you have colour schemes of V set? the old blue goose, candy, marigold, white/blue/yellow?

Wikipedia claims that RailCorp will begin phasing the V Sets out by 2021, but does not mention what the replacement train will be.
Whether this is true or not?? (it is Wikipedia after all), I don't know...

I did not know Auran were seeking routes there is a few that I could have submited. I know one person who offered a route for 2009 and it was knocked back as Aussie routes were deemed not to popular but strangley it was latter put out by Auran as a add on, on a CD route release. And he never even knew anything about until he saw it on the Auran web site.

There is a trend towards total package inclusions ie a route and then a rolling stock package to suit with sessions. This style of production is best suited to the design team style of groups and not so much inividual content creators. Would be interesting to know if there was a payment for content in TS12 or like in the past it was given freely by creators.

Matt just proved you wrong Rod;)

Georgetown-Tarin Rocks...

Why Not??

Jamie

Really ??
How So?
I see I nice loco sitting on a single colour green bank with a purple sky?
Hardly as good as any of the included Trainz 12 maps :hehe:

Axe, I have clicked on your signature a few times. It points to 6 pre 2004 assets of yours, and I did not notice that you indeed had released your map way back in May 2010 (kuid 1970_1064) I apologise as I have never run it.

Jamie How does it run in 12? Axe, has it been updated and offered to NV3
If so why was it knocked back?

I am not trying to tell all Australians we are producing eh "used chaff" ;)
What I am saying is that we are perhaps too lazy to produce the goods, and too quick to whinge because we have been pushed aside and the World is rushing by us.
We want "Australian maps", we got to make them good enough to compete with the whole damn Trainz World
Cheers
Rod
Going to check out Axes map in 12

Comtrain, forgive my rant, I'm not exactly Mr. Emotionally Stable right now, but yes, I engaged the hands without engaging the brain, so I apologise to any and all I may have inadvertantly offended. I agree with what others have said, in that we, as the Australian community, don't have the knowledge, then expertise or the ability (if I may be frank), to produce such outstanding workmanship, that (in particular, the Polish routes I've seen spring to mind) - that a well orgainized and planned out team can produce. Of all the Australian 'groups' I think there's...what? Two? Cardiff Workshops, who produced some wondrous items, may we long hold them in esteem, and Victrains, who likewise, produce some very nice items

I freely admit, one can not be 'master of everything', but if we are to produce something, I hope, one day, will make the world sit back and go 'wow', then we need (myself especially) to admit we're infallable and reach out, embrace new ideas and concepts, and help each other more - one person could do the basics of topology, etc etc etc, another could do scenery (towns, etc etc etc), and so on, and we could form a 'group' to work on a joint project together, to make something that would hopefully, be 'on par' with some of the impressive items we've seen from others, both as screenshots, and as 'finished product'...well, of course, as a route builder (retired), I know a route is never 'finished' there's always something new that crops up, something we could have made better, something to change...etc etc etc.

We need to talk more, to freely give and recieve ideas, to ask for help when we need it, and to give that help freely to those of us, who ask. In my humble opinion, this is what made our 'community' great once before, we all learned from others, who gave freely of their time and efforts, to encourage, support and asssist, to them, I for one will be forever grateful, for all they done, but I don't know if its just me, but we seem to be fragmenting more and more, some stick to TRS 2004 like its the second-coming, others embrace the latest and greatest (supposedly) versions, and if we are to recombine to become a greater whole, we need something to use as a foundation, for which we can then begin to build a new structure, that will (in aspirational theory), prove we shall not be forgotten, we will not be looked down upon by others, we will stand proud, show our masterpiece, when it is done, and hopefully, restore the pride we once had as a group, before we become segregated....

I live in hope....

Axe Your route is a beauty. Sorry I have not found it a long time ago :o

However in its present state, it would not have made the cut, I think.
I have a fairly robust middle of the road quad 4 computer, 8 gig of ram with a Radeon 6800 series card and 2 gig of memory.

But when ever I have a few buildings and two trains close together, or a gantry bridge I am down to 6 to 10 frames

Now I do think that it should be tweaked and set up properly for 12 and then we could proclaim it as our own.
Great job Axe I am sure I will enjoy a much longer session on your railway.

Jamie, thanks for making me go have a look. What is the next one we should all visit? Is their another one?

Recognising that this is not the "politicing" forum, here is what I saw when I visited Axe's Country.
