Auran allows you to put in an external link POINTING TO AN EXTERNAL SITE when uploading BITCH AT THEM..the item is free..advertising will just increase MY traffic costs..so all you 'people' that don't like it can can just plain (censored) and delete the object..

Cheers all...thanks for the additional exposure..

Sounds quite reasonable to me...

When one changes the way things are done, one should expect and graciously accept comments and criticism of the changes. What one should NOT do, if one expects customers who read these forums to buy or use or have anything whatsoever to do with one's products, is to respond in a condescending, snide, and arrogant manner to said criticisms. A simple explanation about what was allowed by Auran and what your intent was with your lovely bit of self promotion would have been acceptable...responding as you did was not. IF you should choose to continue with the attitude that no one has the right to question your practices, then others can only hope the future of OCR becomes first bleak, then nonexistent.

G'Day All,
OverlordNZ does post his items on the forum as this is how I found them, initially I felt a bit uneasy about this but on second thought it is a great idea especially if the real item obsoletes the black block.:hehe:
This makes it easier for the user to locate the missing items and all you have to do is install, bingo, black block gone.:)
Regards
Barrie

I'm sorry OverlordNZ, i understand that you may get rather angry, but a simple explination is better than having a rant at anyone who try's to say anything. Just because you put the problem on the "ignore list", it doesn't make it go away.

Hi,

In my opinion something like this has got to be removed from the DLS.

If other persons see that it can be done, we are going to have all sorts of messages created (including Porn).

I,ve no doubt the originator thought it was a good idea, but it opens up a whole can of worms.

Cheers, John

Guys, I'm going to end this thread now.

First, I will be speaking with the team tomorrow regarding this.

We have allowed this in prior cases where a payware item has had a freeware 'demo' version released via the DLS (where the freeware asset is a lower quality version of the payware asset). However, in this case, the asset in question is intended differently (namely it is obsoleting a freeware asset).

One thing to note, with the multiplayer system, any map using the 3rd party asset will use this placeholder rather than the asset from the 3rd party website. In this case, it will make for an extremely obtrusive item, judging by the size of the object in the screenshot. The same applies if this sort of system is used for payware assets.

This is not to say that the 'ext' links cannot be used for directing people to assets on an external website. However the way that they have been used is somewhat in question here, and we will be looking into it. Particularly as we have received complaints regarding the objects in question.

As above, we will be looking into this further tomorrow.
