Auran System of Downloads Is Unacceptable!

Need for speed

That's because they want you to waste the money on a first class ticket, then they think it's funny to fix problems when they feel like it. There are times that retarded monkeys could do better.
I have never used my FCT, and most always have a good rate. But then, I am on the far side of the moon, to speak, so there are probably not so much activity to the site at these times. I personally do not see a need to pay 10 bucks for something I do not need, especially if the system is not set up correctly to use it!

Boleyd, - yur heading; Auran System of Downloads Is Unacceptable!
Let me see if I have this right. You paid $9.95US for your FCT, (that works out at less than 3 cents a day), which gives you unlimited access to over 110,000 content items on the DLS 24/7. (heavens, no wonder you feel ripped off)... Oh, it's download speed ya talking about !!!! (sorry, my appoligies)...

Well, if there is only a few hundred Trainz'ers trying to download at the same time, your download speeds should still be reasonable. If thousands are trying to download all at the same time, speeds WILL be SLOWER-SLOW...

Auran could increase the cost of your FCT upto $195.95US (p.a) and with that extra revenue, buy more bandwith. Which will mean faster download speeds 24/7 for all. (which would you prefer, slower download speeds during peak period & still only be charged 3 cents a day, or the $199.95US (p.a) option & get "lightning speed") ???

Alternatively you could checkout when the "PEAK" download PERIODS are and try and avoid those times.
If you are continually only getting speeds of less than 10Kbs, you either have a problem on your PC, or with your ISP. (do a speed test to check).
Over the last 2-3 weeks I've been averaging somewhere between 25 to 80Kbs and I live 1000's of miles away from the server. (down under). Happy trainzing.
Cheers, Mac... :o

Footnote, Three to four years ago most downloaders where getting somewhere around 200 - 270 kps download speeds. (Those that had FCT & reasonably fast broadband plans). With ten's of thousands, possibily hundreds of thousands of new Trainzers over the last few years now downloading, well that has simply put a lot more pressure on the existing bandwith.
I'm sure Auran has been increasing the avaliable bandwith over this period, with the extra revenue the FCT's has brought in, but I wonder if it is not time for Auran to re-look at increasing it's bandwith again to cope with the increase demand !!!
This would mean that the cost of a FCT would have to rise to cover the extra cost of the increased bandwith.
YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE !!!

I have seen this type of extreme argument before and reject it. It is the ancient relative value argument. I have used servers in Audtralia with excellent speeds. USA not always so good. I have a 6MBs access. If you read a subsequent comment I noted I was getting 384KBs now that FCT came to life. That is ok. There was no mention in the purchasing process to wait a minimum time period to acquire the higher speed. That is the crux of the problem. Even if each step of the process was on a different server it takes seconds to run through them. Auran has very slow overall systems that interfere with reasonable (in my view) commercial transactions. Simple as that.

If I had not been so dumb as to erase my 2009 textures when trying trying to rid my PC of much of the old blurred stuff I would not have needed the FCT.

$10 may be throwaway money but there remains a principle. And, the delay remains unacceptable until the process tells a customer to wait a minimum amount of time to try the new FCT..

I have seen this type of extreme argument before and reject it. It is the ancient relative value argument.

You have a good grasp of the situation and the psychology of the customer and therefore I'm surprised you use Trainz at all. "Relative value", indeed! Here's a program you have to pay for to use items other people who pay for the program make for free! A process where by the customer is in partnership with the seller, yet earns no profit nor wage! A partnership assumedly based on the agreement that the customer will produce the content and the seller will produce the game engine capable of using the content in the most realistic and efficient way possible, while maintaining high levels of graphic quality, ease of use, and return on effort.

How about that? I'm surprised you use Trainz at all, given your above statement!:D

That comparison may be a bit extreme. I don't see how complaining about a computer game relates to actions taken during a time of war, but perhaps I'm missing your point.

Is tenacity the point? I mean, when I'm cursing and weeping because I can't figure out how to put a 6 year olds bike together should I be comparing myself to to the NASA engineers planning the next space shot?

Do you think those Marines sent to retrieve a flag from the top of a mountain weren't complaining about it all the way there and back, and with good reason? I was a Navy Corpsman attached to a Marine Division for five years, and those guys weren't as stoic about the little things as you may think.

I understand you are irritated by the complaints, but if a person's experience with the product is less than enjoyable I don't begrudge them blowing off a little steam...:D

Maybe a simple explanation of my position will suffice:

1. I spent my $10 to get more speed since I stupidly erased the large sized 2009 textures.

2. The procedure to acquire the the FCT was more convoluted than I liked.

3. The time it took to activate the FCT was, in my "UNAPPRECIATIVE" opinion too long since I was anxious to correct my mistake.

4. I reject arguments that I should be humbly appreciative of the work done by Auran allegedly for us. They are not a charity nor am I a contributor. I would not engage in this worthless dialog unless I had a strong interest in T2009. I actually put two other incarnations (2004 & UTM) in the garbage and never complained, just tossed them. Slow response, that is not obviously Internet related, irks me.

5. I am not interested, at this time, in the mortal sacrifices that preceded me. Capricious labeling of "cry-baby" :'(and "whiner":n: really say that the person who posts that cannot stand conflict.

Finally, Trainz 2009 has promise.:Y: I could cite several things that I believe have to be done to reach full potential. However, I am sure that Auran is quite aware of the needs. FCT now works well for me.:udrool: I continue to believe that the process and speed of activation should be better and at least contain a strong warning:confused: that some time should expire before full function can be expected.

Bearing the number of 'I bought a first class ticket and it doesn't work' threads we see here, I'm inclined to agree that a warning / disclaimer when purchasing would be a very good idea...

I have been using Trainz since it's release and the same with the First Class Ticket. I have never had a serious problem with either. I just renewed my FCT just now and am now enjoying download speeds of 300KBps. The speed of your download depends on a lot of variables. Your computer age, the type of connection you have (wired or wireless), your ISP as well as your location in the country. Some states/counties have caps on bandwith so you'll never get anything above 100KBps. Same goes for ISPs. Don't expect to see lightening fast download speeds with dial-up especially. If you are using a wireless internet connection, the further you are away from your router the slower the speed. Even if you're connected to your router with an ethernet cable, the longer the wire, the slower the connection. Also, if you have multipul computers using the same internet, your bandwidth won't be as good resulting in slower download speeds.

So before you go attacking one of the few game providers that allows users to create and download content from around the world, look at your environment and decide if you are the cause of your own problems.

Not too Happy with FCT

Not happy Jan! Over the past couple of weeks I have been downloading without a FCT and though it was slow I got there in the end so I thought ok I'll buy a FCT and my downloads will be much better.....Wrong! For the past two days I've tried to connect and I get a message 'Sorry the server seems to be full try again later'. I thought that this was the full point of getting an FCT, to prevent this type of issue. Not happy that I've spent my hard earned cash in today climate for this type of service. I hope Auran will fix this issue PDQ and honour an extension to our FCT or there'll be no more trainz for me and everyone of my friends. Not a good customer experience!

Re-enter the password in your Planet Auran profile whilst you are logged out of the forum and CMP is not running, that should reset it.

Mike.

Thanks Mike

Thanks for that Mike. All is working well and I'm getting a good download speed. Thanks again, appreciate it.

Fair enough...but I've grown used to complaining; I was married for TEN YEARS! (Kill me....kill me now!):hehe:

There's nothing wrong with marriage mate. Everyone should try it "once", then hopefully "learnt their lession" :hehe: :hehe: :hehe:
