Auran Container Station - Can you use different containers with this asset?

Hi all, is it possible to use different containers with the Auran Container Station? Ie instead of the boring containers they have used, I'd like to use a selection of different 20ft & 40ft containers by P&O, Nedloyd, Maersk just to name a few and have these loading onto the container wagons instead of the Auran Container Station standard containers.

Kuid:-3:10086

I'v tried amending the config file with regard to replacing the 'product kuid' for the 20ft & 40ft containers with ones that I want to use, but this has changed nothing as when I go into surveyor/driver the standard containers are still being used.

If anyone knows specifically what needs to be done to enable other containers to be used with this asset, please post.

Many Thanks :)

I think from memory you have to change the kuid numbers in the product-kuid lines and in the kuid-table, so there is 2 sets of kuid numbers you have to change in total.

I did change them before in a modded version I have of the Container Station that uses the TNT 20ft and 40ft Containers, it also has been increased in General Goods.

Thanks for your reply, I have changed both the product-kuid and the table-kuids to the one I want to use but its had no effect, perhaps there is another line that needs to be changed as well?

Did you delete the old container station and then place a new one.

.

Yes I'v done that, even tried several different container kuids etc but no luck, everytime its just still showed up with the standard Auran Containers and thats what loads onto the container wagons as well. Maybe something else in the config file needs changing?

Nothing else to change ... I just checked .. change kuid #'s ... rebuild database .. create new route and place container station now with charlie's containers .. success .. not sure why this will not work for you.

:( :confused:

Ok thanks, really puzzled why its not working for me! As mentioned I'v tried with several different containers, even on a new route etc but no joy. Would you be so kind to send me through the config file you amended and used? Maybe there is something obvious I'm missing... thanks again for your help.

What version of Trainz are you using? I am guessing TRS06 or newer as it can be changed in CMP.

Not posting the entire config.txt file as it is too big, but should you need to change the following:

20ft_cont_q
{
size 180
initial-count 73
product-kuid <kuid:-3:10014>
40ft_cont_q
{
size 168
initial-count 48
product-kuid <kuid:-3:10041>
kuid-table
{
gen_goods <kuid:-3:10013>
20ft_container <kuid:-3:10014>
40ft_container <kuid:-3:10041>
41 <kuid:-1:15>
42 <kuid:-3:10164>
}

Ok, you need to change what is in red text, I had a look through the script and it should be fine as long as you don't change anything else.

Edit: Something else I just thought of, looking back over your first post:

You trying to "mix" products? They might not like mixing.

The only different 20ft & 40ft containers I have been able to use with the Auran Container Station are kuid2:49267:35004:1 & kuid2:49267:35005:1 - two container packs by Author GJVH.

No other containers seem to work, even if they are not 'mixed'. Ie if you use a 20ft & 40ft Cosco container by the same author with the relevant kuid numbers amended in the config file the container station shows up in your surveyor menu bar but you can't apply it to the baseboard! (theres no photo of it in the display, just text highlighted in red).

What I am trying to acheive is utilizing the container station with a selection of 5 - 10 different container types 20 & 40ft, which will load only those containers onto the wagons. Is there a way of doing that? I have edited the config file by GJVH & tried keeping only the containers I want but that hasn't been altogether successful.

The other issue with the two kuids listed above is that when the containers show up, they are not properley stacked on top of each other and have spacing in between. How would you fix that?? Please see photos...

There is nothing you can do about the spaces inbetween the containers, the default containers have different measurements (dimensions) from the ones your are using.

Well, nothing you can do without the mesh file and changing it in gMax/3DSMax, can not be fixed by the "config" file...

I built my own container complex. Forget Auran's. There are plenty of loading cranes to choose from and I use the M.I.N. track. I downloaded two container packs from somewhere, 20' & 40', and let your imagination run wild. If you want I will upload a screen shot when I get home from work.

Hi Stouthm, please feel free to post photos of the container complex you built.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem there is any way to specifically do what I wanted which was have wagons loaded with only certain types of Containers, ie P&O, Maersk etc, I'm not certain the LARS or ProtoLARS industry track would be able to do this or if its even compatible with standard container wagons.

These are a few pictures of two that I built. Use the M.I.N. (multiple industy new) and let your imagination do the rest.

If you need any more help or ideas let me know.

LARS Industrail

I use the LARS Industrail. It works perfectly for me. And there's really no limit to your imagination when it comes to creating your own Container Stations. These shots are from my northern addition to my Valley River RailRoad.

Kooool !!

I agree, forget Auran's container station !! You need to think BIG for container station . . . just check out the satellite view San Pedro Harbor in Los Angeles CA. They are HUGE.

Proto Lars track is the way to go.

davesnow,

I'm glad to see I'm not the only EXTREME Container Port builder :hehe::hehe:

Here is mine in my San Pietro harbor. Warning - 1360x768 images. Click on the image at Image shack and expand the window box.

^ Wonderful.. My only regret is that I didn't lay "rails only" track... instead of my MP Wooden standard. (But, hey, I may go back and fix that someday.) My container yard is "L" shaped and has a ocean entrance and river feed at the bottom of the "L". I use swing bridges and one lift bridge to handle my incoming and outgoing trains. I also have a huge steel factory and a power station nearby, so I have to allow for that traffic, too! Man, ain't TRAINZ fun!?!?!?!?:D :) :D :) :D

davesnow,

By the way, my tracks are NOT rails only. They are covered with "concrete slab" splines. VERY useful splines. I use them a LOT. they come in 10m,15m, 20m, 25m, 50m, 75m and 100m width. They don't look bad either. Just lay the slab over your track, slight adjustment with "spline height" tool . . . and you got rails only.

I think you can find them on DLS with "conc slab" in the title or "concrete slab spline" in description.

What? No Imported Auto loading station at your harbor ?? Shame on you . . . Every port that is large enough to have a mega container station will ALWAYS have Imported Auto loading facility . . . ALWAYS. I'd say you have a facility to build.

Here's mine . . . Notice the use of "conc slab" splines.

ar01xm8.th.jpg

NONE of my tracks in the port area are "rails only". These tracks that share space with "road traffic" are covered with road splines that I re-skinned. The double yellow indicates "do not cross" and the "red" indicates "do not park within, RR right of way". These road splines that I modified were created by bnsf50, and they don't "float" above ground . . . as you can see.

The road covering the "imported crude oil" facility is much darker and oily. "Clean" conc. or asphalt texture just doesn't cut it.

Just a few building tips. Ummmm . . . you DO have an "imported crude oil" facility on your port . . . right? ;-)

This all looks great, edion2!! No, I don't have an auto or oil terminal. I guess I could look into adding that at a later date. Right now, I have 14 consists running a total trackage of 200 miles.... and that's just as the crow flies. About half of my route is along a winding, (very) hilly river. Traffic is somewhat slow because for about 80 miles, the trains share a route with an excursion train that stops at every small village & town! But that's part of it. Actually, about half the trains are coal haulers from a large coal mine complex located on a plateau.

My only suggestion for your route is to replace those default switches with more prototypical switches, such as the tall switchstands or the CSX Switchstands.
