Attachment Mesh ARN?

I had an interesting idea and am curious if anyone has tried doing something like this.

Might it be possible to set up an attached 'invisible' mesh to loco (or car) that would allow for someone to add ARN to a non-ARN equipped vehicle.

Bassically I'm thinking you would have a long flat mesh that would have number spots mapped and a collection of ARN textures. One could then add an attachment point to the side of an vehcle where they want the ARN to be; add the script; reskin the numbers (if needed) and presto you now have ARN on a loco. Maybe have a couple different size meshes so you can to number boards & the sides of engines.

thoughts? would this be feasable? maybe a new tool for PEV :p? anyone who knows what they are doing want to try it?

done it before.

VMDs B39-8s didnt have ARN until i added it as a seperate mesh. they were released that way. the only caveat is that running numbers only work on the default mesh, so i had to rename the locomotive to another mesh and put the number mesh as the default.

i just did all the numbers on the side and numberboards on one mesh and didnt really attach it to an a. point but just listed it as default in the mesh table.
