ATLS Level Crossings

I have been using Boat's ATLS system for creating level crossings. One thing I cannot fathom is how to stop traffic getting caught between the two stoppers when the gates are closing. I thought the delay seconds at start and end within the controller might be the answer but that just delays the whole operation.
Has anybody any ideas ?

Either run the traffic through an invisible road that by-passes the second stopper, or put a third (or even fourth) stopper between the 'main' two and the traffic will only stop at the first...

Thanks for the ideas above. I have tried the one stopper option which seems to work fine. However I have one area which is about 100 metres between the stop points. The largest ATLS stopper I can find is only 40 metres. Can anybody create one about 100 metres long or have any other suggestions ?

Use two!

Extreme case, but on a very skewed crossing I had to do this with 7 in a row, plus 5 more on the same channel for the other two crossings involved, works just fine with all traffic stopping clear of the tracks....

To all,

Thanks for the excellent instruction on these Stoppers, I rarely fool around with them, but need to understand better how they work, because in one or more of other folks Routes, I had issues where 1st set of 2 vehicles would stop on both sides of Xing's as expected, but then next vehicles would slow down, almost stop, then all of sudden speed thru stopped vehicles and continue on, really weird and it is puzzling....;)

Now with your picture Dermmy and the 7 slots filled, I wonder if in fact I just need more Stoppers on each side of the Xing's then......As your Picture shows......:o

Back in the days of TRS2004, traffic was much more obliging. Connect a long road to a level crossing and if a train was coming it would stop. Place a spline point very close to the crossing and it would not stop.
Bearing in mind that Traffic Stoppers are just invisible level crossings, you could place your spline points so you almost had a one-way stopper.

In later versions of Trainz however, the traffic got a bit temperamental. Build up a lot of traffic and they seem to go anyway. Those speeding overtaking cars won't stop for anything and yes, some slow and make a dash for it. Close spline points may make it worse but I've not found a real solution to that. But as others have suggested, longer Stoppers will get rid of the stopping on the tracks issue.

Basically I think a lot of driver re-training is required!

Amen to that Sir Boat,

Just like in the real World..........I see it everyday when I drive, the Crazy antics of Drivers cutting in n out..... Like as if it was a Road Race....And don't talk about our Freeways, I feel for the Semi Truck Drivers who try their best to prevent collisions.......It is the world we live in.........:(

Thank you for your excellent Assets you make for us......:p
