ATLS And Diamond Crossings

Vern

Trainz Maverick
A model route I'm working on has a section of double track line crossed at grade by a single track emerging from the storage sidings/fiddle yard - effectively creating a double diamond. As we know, Trainz doesn't "see" diamond crossings for the purposes of signalling but ISTR there was a method of using ATLS to protect the flat crossings. Having never dabbled with ATLS is there a tutorial which could guide me on how to set the system up to protect the crossing in these circumstances?

Even after expanding the plan slightly there isn't room to grade separate the two sections of line.

Check out boat's ASB controller and assets.

The Crossover Controller looks like a relay cabinet with a meter on it. You "connect" this to some named signals setup on the points of the crossing tracks, and assign the unit to a channel. The triggers are associated with the channel all pretty much like the ATLS assets are setup.

Once setup, ensure the controller is turned on. When a train approaches the red signals, they will turn green for that train. If there's another train approaching on the crossing track, that driver will wait at a red signal.

This kit works quite well.

Enhanced interlocking tower is also a good choice. Use tower with <kuid:243828:1940> C+ SO Note (Track) Nameable. and your track is protected.

Really appreciate the responses guys, thanks. Once I reach the signalling stage, I'll give it a go.

Trigger Multiple Signals

There is a rule which allows you to place a trigger and connect it to signals, so if a train hits a trigger on the mainline, the triggers on the single track will turn red, and vice versa.

Hope this helps,

The ASB Controller plus triggers etc, is what I used on the Welsh Highland Cambrian Crossing, works well enough.

I can recommend the ASB, I've used it in just the configuration you mentioned, easy to set up and works a treat.

Sounds like ASB might be the easier option, I'll sneak a look at what you've done at Minffordd, Malc.
