ATLS and crossbucks; cars stop but won't go.

Sorry for yet another ATLS question but all the questions before this one seem to deal with crossing arms, those of which I have no problem getting to work. My question is this: Why do my cars stop when a train hits the trigger, but never go again? Here is a picture of my ATLS controller settings:

I am using BNSF invisible track which does not show once connected to the slave for some reason. All triggers and slave are set to channel 1 as per the controller. I am trying to get the cars to stop when a train is present but drive through was clear. The stoppers are connected to the slave, the one on the left moves across the track (towards top of screen) crosses the track and connects to slave which then connects directly to stopper of east side (right) side of screen just in front of it.

I have found this occasionally and found that if you move away from the scene for a few mins. and then return the traffic is moving again.
One way is to hop into the cab of the loco then return to free roaming and have another look at the crossing.

Cheers,

I'm not sure what I'm looking at? Do you want to stop cars when they approach the track? In that case click the minus sign on your controller under routes until LCM(Level Crossing Mode) shows up. If you want to stop cars at an intersection set the red and green to opposite settings.

I wish to add make sure the slave is also at -1. This will let the traffic move after deactivating the crossing. Your controller as config'd in the pic is a 50/50 stop go with a 20 second delay between cycles. (the whole 'stuck cars" may still happen as this seems to be an odd glitch we all have seen)

For the slave it would be -1 under route, but show LCM only. This is the setting for grade crossings(Train tracks), not for intersections of roads. As far as intersections the gap delay, try shortening that number(Try 5 ?)and increase the phase times(They don't have to be the same.). The phases are how long the light will stay green, red, etc.. The gap is how long before one turns green after the other turns red, and in between you would get a yellow if using the 3 color type lights.

Hi Chris,

A others have said, if you just want to use ATLS as a level/grade crossing controller then use it in LCM or 'Level Crossing Mode'. To set it to this, press the 'Routes' minus button until you get to Routes = -1. That will place the controller in LCM. Do the same for the Slave.

The phase settings were designed to control road traffic lights, the original use of ATLS. The gap delay was made available with a long duration option to allow for single lane traffic at roadworks for example. Not needed for train crossings.

In fact I added LCM as an afterthought!

Some invisible track does not seem to show even in Surveyor in TANE.

Ah ha, got it worked out. There were three errors, the first not having the controller set to LCM (the video I watched said to set it to "route" as per the picture), the second is one of my triggers was incorrectly set, and the third was I only had my invisible track going in a U shape, so the traffic would release when the the loco went past the trigger at the top of the picture but not the bottom. I closed off the stop signal so the invisible track is now a O and the traffic releases after about 10 seconds of the trigger being tripped.

That video I watched was not much help at all; I should have figured that when buddy said "I can't remember what I did from here" when he put the controller onto his route. Glad he tried to help us, but only caused confusion for me.

Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks. I had seen links to those tutorials before, but I tried using the ones provided with the asset and when that didn't work I figured the online tutorial would be no better so I tried for the videos. I will have a look though.

Once you get the hang of this asset set, the whole world of possibilities opens up wide. In its simple set-up, trainz can blast through fully set crossings, animated bridges become smoother to run.

Advanced?

Try picturing a 10 lane meeting a 10 lane with real stop and go traffic, with lane specific turns/straight throughs, or even this PLUS a custom crossing configuation. I have yet to find the limit to this set. (I have tried many times and cannot find the limit.)
