Gentlemen, thanks for your informative replies.
I haven't spent too much time researching TRS2009. The comments I've garnered from the forums appear to be quite positive about it. (As compared to the blizzard of negative controvery TRS06 generated on its release.) I've been poking through 09 screenshots this talented community has submitted and I'm quite impressed with 09's look. The 5 meter subdivisions seem to make a world of difference on realistic looking scenery generation!
Thus, I wasn't aware that TRS09 will convert and compress texture files. I haven't been over to the TrainzDEV site for a while, so my apologies PEV, for not being aware of your texture compression utility. I will hop over there soon and catch up on 09 developements.
It looks like I'll need to dive into Blender importers and exporters also. Both PEV and Mjolnir agree that Blender creations can be imported into 09. I'm left somewhat confused as to by what method at this point, so I will chase that dog down, too. After a few bottles of xtra stength asprin and a whole new vocabulary of curse words, I finally quit GMax and went over to Blender, which is fully supported and documented and is, in my view, a kinder, gentler 3D program!
Again, thanks for your replies. I'm sure I'll be back picking your brains for more info on texture compression and Blender eporters/importers.
Now, if Dr. Ziegler can come up with a TransDEM upgrade for TRS09, I'm a convert.
Regards
