Article: Trainz Past-Present-Future

TS14 64bit. Then those wishes can come true. That would be the green line.

And the Purple is TS14 32bit, where there is a dead end to what you can do with a 32bit box.

One can only hope that's why there is a Star there instead of a circle.

And the dashed purple line is Trainz Portal. Where you put on one of those internet portals and drive onto your buddies route, and he yours.

Thinking outside the current box, I would wish for an updated game engine, ideally with some kind of comparability mode to ease the transition or if not, then a conversion tool to upgrade the latest existing assets to the new standard. You can stretch somethings only so far before they snap and the old Jet engine must be close to its limit. It has served very well over all these years and Trainz versions but some day it will have to retire. Let that day be sooner rather than later. :D

Meanwhile, the ability to cut and paste multiple baseboards would be a godsend to route builders everywhere. :)

I only ask for one thing and that is a version that will make existing users want to migrate from older versions to the new.

And what would be the key things that turn "might migrate" into "want to migrate"?

Most Jet aircraft last 20-15 years... hmmm. Perhaps software is a little different ;). If your wish were to come true, where would a new engine show on the map? What features would it include?

Thanks for asking ...

The ability to cut and paste multiple baseboards--YES. An option to incorporate a "business" (i.e., money) into the game. Going to the use of a 64 bit operating system seems mandatory. The ability in the rules system (for session making) to define a "macro" that could contain several rules that a session maker always likes to include. A complete definition (in the manual) of all rules provided, with samples where needed.

If this is to generate excitement for a new version to fix the old version, the attempt did not work with me.
N3V needs to fix many flaws with TS12 still yet ignore them.

Please add a siding off of TS12 with Service Pack 1 plus Hotfixes and then have a derailment.

LOL, that's the first thing I thought of too. (although I wouldn't go as far as a derailment, more like an non-revenue spur.)

Trainz Surveyor in mobile. And less reliance on jointed rail stuff. This used to be a user-oriented game, now it is a payware game. You have to pay for locos already in the game. And destroy the cutoff of Auran services. I dont want to upgrade to a game where i cant use 2004 content.

Ive mentioned it elsewhere in the suggestions area. Increasing the current limited 5m grid to say a 2m grid which wil help towards the second issue of improving the tools forto allow better land creation. More facilities for example to create realistic hills/valleys etc without having to use an external program. Maybe the ability to follow the contours on a map and have the system adjust the land inbetween the contours to create the hills and valleys etc?

We're less than 48 hours from the official unveiling, so here are today's HUGE hints...

Solid Purple Line: TWOR
Dotted Purple Line: ESEG
Green Mainline Extension: TANE

Decipher the code to name each line.
