Article: Trainz + Kickstarter - One week until launch

Hi people,
I'd imagined it like this, for about three years, I want the game to include the following functions:
Height field was realistic to a certain level of reality was snow on the top of the mountains to the falling rain, the snow was better than large flakes that one would in reality stubbed into the ground. The sun shone very good effect, that it was an endless landscape, than to build a square area. Water areas were more to choose between the rivers, lakes and the sea. Terrain order to generate using height maps. A track that did not sound like that sound, but that was real! I am willing to contribute € 40 which takes them more than 1,000 crowns.

Sure - it's all about economics. It currently costs over $1M per year to support Trainz and develop new products (versus $265M it took to develop GTA 5 but that's a different story). Trainz 12 currently generates a fraction of that. Therefore right now, most our resources are devoted to developing new products that will generate more revenues.

With a successful Kickstarter project, we will have additional funds that will allow us to speed up development of T2. Since TS12 is still the core code base that gets integrated with the new engine, fixing outstanding issues in the TS12 Branch flow through into the next generation product, T2. It's a win-win.

We've had a good run with TS12 and it's time for a new version in 2014. Kickstarter is a very innovative approach and I hope to be able to support it.

This recent news about DRM, and that TS12 still being worked on, is good news, that should have been made public when all this KickStarter T2 information first came out.

When a Company listens to it's customers needs, and address's their concerns, it is good publicity.

From reading these few recent new official statements about TS12, DRM, T2 ... I would have voted differently in the poll ... as I am now in favor of pledging towards KickStarter.

Thanks Tony. Im glad to hear that TS12 wont be forgotten. It may not be perfect but its still better than the competition.

I think this idea is really opening up a can of worms. Every other video game company is going to try to copy this idea and before you know it, 20 developers or companies are all going to be wanting pledges and donations. Where is the money going that you are already making? You make money off the game sales, from JointedRail, and from the DLS subscriptions. It's going to get to a point where only rich people can afford to play computer train games. Just like how the model train hobby is too expensive for most to get into anymore.

What ... only rich? LOL. Anyone who can pony up the basic one time cost of somewhere in the $30 - $60 range (wild guess) can play. If someone can't afford that then perhaps they have bigger issues than need to be addressed before indulging in this hobby. Necessities before hobbies. Everything has a cost. My sympathies if someone is in dire economic straits but the world is not going to stop.
