Article: Trainz + Kickstarter - One week until launch

Hi Tony, I think that our locos will provide for a driver and and engineer. By clicking on the train icon, gives access to the engineer who can select a train, the 2nd icon lists the various duties, the down arrows are acknowledgement or acceptance of the duty, the first key denotes switching the loco 'On' or 'Off' and the 2nd locks or saves the info and the tick is the OK button. Maybe the circle in the top left corner could indicate the level of engineer. I don't think the colour of the card has any significance.

Colour - Red, means you're pledging dangerously too much money, the wife (or other partner) will kill you if they find out.

The train on screen - having looked at another KS today that could be wallpapers for your lovely PC (or Mac).

The K logo - That looks like the KickStarter logo, so I'm guessing that is a pledge to support the pupose of the KS, to receive a copy of T2.

Downward arrows - pledged to level that allows two downloads of T2 (one for friend, or perhaps an enraged partner).

Keys - one for access to alpha and one for access to beta.

Ticked box - you've made your selection out of the four options.

Engineer - it means you have more money than sense ;-)

For some reason that image reminds me a lot of the forum tickets we used to get for various levels of participation with many more variables in the included symbols.

Keys: access to different areas of Trainz or payware contributor
K: a KickStarter contributor
The monitor with the engine head-on: Trainz:World of Rails member
The two down arrows: FCT's available
Check box: ?? something has been achieved or received
 
Yep - I reckon amigacooke is on to it regarding the Trainz wallpaper (or screen desktop) for that particular icon. It will almost certainly be one of the minor rewards for participating in the Kickstarter campaign.
Remember, the entire image is labelled "reward level.jpg", so the main image depicts a ticket of some sort (a rite of passage? :-) ) to show the entitlement of some kind for a backer who attains the backing level status of "Engineer". There will be other names for different levels of backing. (Wonder if one of the higher levels will be designated "Fat Controller"? Heh heh.)
Typically rewards for various levels are inclusive of the lesser rewards attained by lower levels of contribution/ backing. So the white icons might show what lower levels of reward are bundled with your level of backing and the gold colours show the newly uncovered entitlements/rewards for your "Engineer" level of pledge. It follows that a higher award level for a larger contribution would include new and different icons in a gold colour and the two shown in gold on the Engineer's ticket would thus be rendered in white on their ticket...

Some of these have been identified correctly, but not all as yet.

3. What does the colour code mean?
As explained above, new reward for this pledge level.

4. The name?

No correct guesses as yet.

1) Reward Level
2)They're things you receive at that level. they could be; The game, Some special Kickstarter reward (the custom driver?), 2 DLCs, FCT, Beta, full unlock.
3) Reward pledge level
4) Level name
5) A special icon designating the reward level would go in it. It could vary depending on where in the reward level you lie.

Not yet - still a few days to go ;)

I think most of them will be figured out - but then again, maybe our icons are too cryptic?
 
Could that circle mean the highest level possible ( Conrtibutions/achievemnets ) is reached and when activated it asks for a password which activates top level priviliges ?
 
Circle at top? A number - based on who gave and the numerical order in which their donation was received. IE first person to donate would be #1, 2nd #2 etc

Why be so secretive? If you indeed expect anyone to "pledge" anything, don't you think some/many/all of us here reading this would be at the very least entitled to know what exactly we would be pledging for?

We'll know what we're getting before we can pledge. At the moment it's just a publicity stunt to try and keep us interested in the kickstarter.

Hi Lenard and welcome.

As PerRock has mentioned, all will be revealed in the Kickstarter project, and right now, we are making sure as many people as possible know about our plans.

I'll give some hints for the icons:
(i) "Screen" - someone has figured this out, so read back through the thread.
(ii) "K" - some very close guesses but not quite on the money
(iii) "Down Arrow 1" - kinda close guesses so far, but not really
(iv) "Down Arrow 2" - someone has figured this out, so read back through the thread.
(v) "Key 1" - really close
(vi) "Key 2" - someone has figured this out, so read back through the thread.
(vii) "Ticked Box" - no cigar yet.

Btw, for whoever asked, our Kickstarter will be in Australian dollars (currently almost the same as USD; USD$10 = AUD$9.60)
 
As much as I like a good mystery, I think some of it is contributing more to the paranoia level than to the fun side of Trainz. Back in the day when we had puzzle pieces scattered all over the place and we tried to guess how the future of Trainz was supposed to unfold, the world was a slightly more innocent place and people were not as fast to ascribe dark motives to every action. Today every corporation is assumed to have a hidden agenda with the basest of motives. Not saying that some don't fit the bill but they are all suspect by association.

Sad really, that games have come to this, Trainz too. Now it seems everything is being interpreted in the worst possible light. Try to involve the community via something like KickStarter and something must be wrong with the finances or some equally as bad.

Trainz was always a fun place, wish we could return there.

As for the red circle, doubt it could be a count of the donation order, unless they use very small numbers or don't expect many donations. With the "name" already implying a donation level, or is that not true in which case it might be a donation level. (1, 2, 3 ... or A, B, C ...)
 
You can count on my support, Tony! If we can get T2 up to (or above) Failworks level, it would be a most impressive game, and one that could be built upon for many years to come. Being able to use current dls and personal creations in this is a plus; I'm glad you are incorporating it in. Look forward to the 13th!:udrool:
 
It may well be that they are also working on TS12. From what I've gathered, the new version may well be backwards compatible anyway.
